I have mixed feelings about the idea, I would love that extra motivation to get out, but have found when I've trained with other people before it really frustrates me if we're not at the same level. My OH is annoyingly fit as he has a physical job, but thinks I'm crazy for going out running :rotfl:
I run with the girls from work but we are now all at different levels...one of us has moved on a bit and now runs with her brother, she joins us now and then for an easy run...my runchum is a bit slower than me, but if I don't run with her she would struggle on her own...so I just go out in addition to the runs i do with her...
We are all going to join the same running club though, we may end up with new runchums!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

and stop complaining you lot - at least you have OHs to ask/avoid going out with

Aww Becky
I only see mine once a week normally so no time to be doing things like running :rotfl: Although, if this endorphin
thing ever kicks in with me it will be a bit of a shame that he's never around when I've been running

My girlfriend will catch a bus to go two stops. She will complain if I make her walk more than a couple of minutes. However as I have pointed out to her she is quite happy to walk up and down the shopping streets all afternoon - spending my money :rotfl:

So, because everyone compromises, nobody ends up doing the training they want to.
However, I do see the point of females pairing up on dark nights to get runs done that would otherwise be blank. But a female pairing up with a random male just shouts problems. Whats the chances of them being equally matched? So males being males there may just be an ulterior motive, although I wouldn't be able to elaborate on that sort of thing........:o
It may make the woman run that little bit faster:rotfl:Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Everyone seems to have had some successful runs this weekend. Rich you have done miles this week....don't know how your legs do it 2 10k's on the trot!
Roll on Wednesday....um wonder if I can sneak in a couple of miles tomorrow, legs are feeling fab consideringI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Sally,
Its not an easy thing to explain, but a training program is a guide rather than a 'master which must be obeyed'. The general thrust of the program needs to be achieved but you have to allow flexibility for when you're not feeling so good (cancel or downgrade a session) and when you're feeling really good (bring a session forward).
The trouble is that until you've been through a few build ups it is difficult to read the signs properly. However, work with the basic principle that if you're itching to do more your body is ready and if its aching/resisting its not!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hello everyone, I thought I would pop in to give you my results from today's run, but you already know! Technology is amazing. Results up on the website before I got home.
Anyway, I can't tell you how thrilled I was with my time. Apart from a bit of tightness to the side of my knee and a bit of chafing
I'm feeling fine, and over the moon with the race.
Conditions were absolutely perfect,a cool morning but not a spot of rain and no wind to speak of. The organisation was brilliant as well. Plenty of loos, good information, lots of bands on the course and loads of supporters too. I couldn't have asked for more.
I have run the GNR a couple of times before but this was the quickest. I was really surprised too because I haven't done much distance in training. I think the furthest I ran was about 9 miles. But some days you have a good run and other days you don't, and today I had a good run. The mile markers kept coming and I kept running. I suppose that's all there is to say. The tough bit was the 9 - 11 mile section, which is uphill, but as soon as I saw the sea I put everything into it and just kept on going.
By the way, OH did 1:39:25, which he was also very pleased with.
Thanks for all your messages of congratulations too. It was great to log in and see them up there!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Sounds like an ideal day for the race and the fact that you enjoyed it makes it so much better. Hope you don't feel too stiff tomorrow, now go and put your feet up and celebrate with a drink!
