Actually went in to get my ever so feminine DD some shin pads and a mouth guard for hockey

Ok Sammy I will do. Basically you alternate your running speed so that you go at an easy rate or normal rate and then speed it up to over a speed which you would normally race at. So for example I did a 4 mile run and did

1 mile at what I thought was fast
    half a mile recovery
    1/2 mile fast
    1 mile normal run pace
    1/2 mile walk
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Thats progress...my problem would be walking away without buying something, I love shopping (doesn't matter what I am buying!)

Okay - this is where I get a bit scared! I normally run 4 miles....but i do run/walk/run/walk.. I struggle for the first bit and then get better towards the end (perversely)....

I haven't done many races so really wouldn't know what my race speed is..but I guess I could just run faster than I normally do for a mile (why is it so bloody hilly where I live?)

What do you do in the half a mile recovery - just run slower:confused::confused:

What is the benefit of fartleks?
