I hate to say it, I think girls/women are worse...I just don't see why they're so afraid of me...do they really think I'm going to stop off in the middle of my 10 mile run to hit on/rape them if they smile and say hello? Or am I just being oversensitive...?
Now this is interesting. I find girls/women are more likely to acknowledge/smile unless they are in pairs in which case they are too busy discussing lipstick shades or how horrible men are!
However, when driving, if you don't get an acknowledgement from another driver after letting them out of a junction you can bet your bottom dollar its a woman! It would be interesting to get the ladies' views on this one....................Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

It could be.....I'm never sure what sets it off really, except that it's too unpredictable for it to be JUST being triggered by the running.snaggles it might be the moisture in the air that makes it harder for you to breath around the resevoir (providing it does have water in it?)
Hope the neck is holding up ok
I think my neck must be improving actually thanks - it went into spasm when I got home, but is already easing without any painkillers at all.
Oooh, I have a proper running-related question actually. Me and hubby play squash quite a lot (used to be every week but has slipped a bit recently). It's me that is driving these squash sessions, hubby isn't that bothered for going (he isn't bothered about much these days.....sigh.....). So should I bother continuing? Or should I run instead?
I do love playing squash, but as I have such limited time, it would be another run I could fit in.
At the moment I'm doing:
Monday: school run (1 mile)
Tuesday: school run (1 mile)
Wednesday: 5k run (3 miles?)
Thursday: Walk (unsure how far, couple of hours usually)/squash
Friday: school run (1 mile)
Saturday: nothing
Sunday: 5k run (3 miles?), then usually a walk of some kind later (but usually at toddler pace so probably doesn't really count)
I need to up this somehow - I could probably fit something in on a Monday evening
but I feel like it's all a bit jumbled somehow. "I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

I was really quite shocked when I first moved to Leeds to find that people don't acknowledge being let out at junctions! I think it's so rude! But I hadn't noticed it being particularly a male/female thing. I always acknowledge....I'm such a well brought up girl! :rotfl:
As for women being more likely to smile at you Rich......no comment.......

I mostly dont but thats because I'm usually thinking too hard, but today I saw a girl twice and smiled and she smiled back so that was nice - bearing in mind I'm in London - look at someone the wrong way here and you're in trouble!
Cant comment on the driving thing - I don't drive!0 -

Hey snags, in my opinion, you are actually doing a lot... think of the GP recommended 30 minutes a day activity as your guideline, then add into the mix that you are doing 2 x 3mile runs also which takes you into the realms of proper running training over and above that desired level of activity...
i think you said you wanted to be fitter and healthier, you will be very much so at the levels you are doing, and increase this and you will be into proper training mode and maybe working harder than your aims need.....
unless you are planning on being a running machine in which case rich will advise!!
Squash might be a little hardcore taking into account your neck and asthma, so why not encorporate that session into a family swim time, you n Stu take turns to mind the kids while the other swims....? less harsh on joints and a family affair.I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Rich I always thank people at junctions etc...and I'll be the one in the car that if I don't get a thank you says to herself " No thank you". As for discussing lipsticks....don't think so Im always to out of breath to talk! Think you must be thinking of these occasional joggers not us professionals on here
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Morning all, managed right round lovely turf field again this morning!! yipee!!! Even managed to say 'morning' to lovely fellow dog walker with greyhound (glad I haven't got one of those - no chance of keeping up!).
Still trying to get with the lingo - whats a 'fartlek'??
I would hate to drop it into a conversation and find it was no where near appropriate.............!!
You all are super keep fitties - netball, swimming, squash, spinning!!! Does dog walking, horse poo picking, carrying buckets of water count??
That Rich chappie is certainly very well versed in many things.............how does he find the time to run and post on here??0
