Wow , everybody is arguing with OH, I had a """discussion""" last night about lack of money with OH, sorted in the end but always makes you feel guilty about the past and not the fact that your trying to sort it out, the way of the world.

By eating lots of value things and not much meat! Err, I spend about a tenner a week on basic shopping - bread, pasta/ rice, cheese, yoghurt, fruit & veg, some tins of tomatoes, tuna and sardines (usually Tesco but sometimes Waitrose or Sainsburys, which can be done for about the same price if you're careful.. Waitrose's 19p spaghetti is really good). Only tend to buy meat if it's reduced - I got a load of organic steak and burgers and the beginning of the month for less than half price as it was on its sell buy date - went straight into the freezer. I've got salad, herbs and chillis (which I eat loads of) growing at home so no spending on them, and they're great for giving otherwise unexciting things a lot of flavour. Got a lot of spices which I bought in massive tubs from the carribean and indian sections in supermarket. Lunches are usually leftovers from the night before - some sort of pasta or rice dish, or a salad - if I do buy lunch from shop or canteen then it comes out of my weekly spends budget which definitely makes me think twice about it! For snacks I've been making my own savoury scone-type things - basically just flour, oil, water and herbs/ spices - which for 40p for a bag of flour which lasts me about a month, is considerably cheaper than buying crisps everyday. Oh and I've more or less stopped drinking alcohol at home (though it's payday today so I think there might be a couple of cheap bottles of wine over the weekend).
I've got all my receipts for the last couple of months (MSE anorak alert :rotfl:) so if you want a rundown of a typical week can always type one up
Phew... so, anyone running today? I'm not - tomorrow or Sunday I think!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

10 miles.. at 7.30... on a Sunday morning.... I really am in awe of some of you more experienced runners... fantastic stuff
ps.. forgot to add, this month I also spend a fiver on a Tesco voucher, and OH bought me a few bits (chicken and lager mostly), but even including that still came under £60.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Wow Red - that is fantastic - yes please I would like a rundown of a typical week - I have really gone over budget this month and I have tried so so hard so I really need to tackle it.
 to 10 miles - if there was a faint icon I would use that too!
I'm not running today, next run is scheduled for tomorrow morning and then Sunday morning, going to do my Pilates DVD tonight though.
I also have an important announcement - I measured the old thighs last week during my moment of stress and again today - I have lost half an inch :j :j :j I have also lost 1.5lb - must be the running as the bacon sandwiches are flowing nicely :rotfl:0 -
now, wheres cnoelj and bobble and sea 78 and findingmyownway and minnie lurking? how has your day been guys?
I'm here!
Looks like it the season for OH problems - mine's lovely really but we have a difficult situation to deal with at the min (basically his 12yo DD has moved in with us so its been a couple of weeks of major adjustments for us all - not to mention exW who is intent on making poor DD feel as guilty as possible about it  ). Not been arguing between ourselves but its one of those frustrating situations which makes for a stressful life. In between all that, very poorly mum and stepdad, worrying about money, negotiating details of my new job, trying desperatly to finish my PhD, helping best friend cope with 4 week old baby and trying not to make other 2 stepDDs feel left out - i'm finding things hard at the minute.
Jeez thats a right self-pitying moan, not usually my style, i apologise very much!!
Erm, running, yeah, thats why i'm here! Did 2 miles with stepDD (her on her bike) last night. I have a night in on my own tonight so going to do another 3 miles then it will be rest tommoro (well, swimming with kids) and then i have 10K race on sunday :eek:0 -
Thats what is good about running, you can carry on eastin the normal stuff and still lose weight, well most of the normal stuff in moderation.22/07/07 Debt - Tesco 17644 (6.1%) - Now 10500
