Does running on the treadmill count? I think I might do some treadding today as I feel really lethargic and meh, backs playing up again so I think I will do some brisk walking with the incline on:D

Does this mean I can join in on the famous running thread:j

    Morning
Sorry I have been awol, I cleared all the cookies off my laptop and then couldn't remember the password. I signed up with an old email and therfore couldn't get the password. Anyway just had a brainwave at what it could be and I guess right....now don't know what possessed me to have a password as marathon so I am changing it back now to one I can remember :rotfl:

Snaggles..you go girl its a beautiful morning and what better way to spend it outside running. Jinky and Lou hope you both enjoy whatever running you can

I have also been out this morning and did 10k in 1:14:08 so quite pleased with that as I was taking it at an easy pace (yes I did listen to you coach Rich). Proper training starts this week and I am quite looking forward to it :p and should hear about marathon too

Right will check in later to see what you crazy lot have been up to today
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

What is with all these sore backs and other body parts

Welcome to the famous running club thread Louise.

Treadmills do count as running. You are putting the effort in. I would say though that if you are planning to enter events it is important to remember that you should be used to running on the surface so the majority of your training should be on road. However the treadmill is great particularly if you are harbouring an injury, for a change of routine or if you are in the gym anyway.

So yes if you cant get out for a run the treadmill is absolutely fine. Also if you are injured or fancy a change try swimming or other cross training activity. Doing something is usually better than doing nothing. Although there will be times when you would be advised to rest completely. Just be sensible and take advise when necessary.

    Welcome aboard again!

    Hi Sally,

The number of times I've done that with passwords - I have several that are very similar and store them for automatic login, but as you say once you lose them its a bit of a mare!!.

Now that sounds a better summary of a run - 'so quite pleased with that as I was taking it at an easy pace'.

With that time being an easy run it also shows you haven't lost anything much in that downtime.

The other thing to bear in mind is that the lower the intensity, the higher the rate of fat burn with walking being the ultimate fat burner.

All in all I'm detecting a happier Sally so its all good news!

    Of course it counts!

And since brisk walking with an incline is one of the best possible exercises for improving strength, joints, aerobic capacity and burning fat then that is even better.
