That is interesting Richl. Before my last marathon I gave up tea and coffee totally for a full week before. Perhaps I need to take another look at this.
You certainly do!!!
Why handicap yourself compared to people 'in the know'.

Hi everyone, well since I posted on 26th Aug I haven't managed to get out running but will hopefully start over the weekend. I have been walking a lot taking dd to school and back and eating sensibly, I have now gone from 13st 2lb to 12st 7lb so have lost 9lb. Still a way to go but once I start running it normally drops off quickly and improve my fitness obviously.
I've been reading everyones progress, well done good work.

Thats great to know! I will continue to drink my cofffee and enjoy!
I've had a though about alcohol and think I'm going to try to stop all together (after all its only 30 weeks) wish me luck!
Wow!!
Now you've impressed me again - but then again you may as well get every advantage you can!
Everytime you get the urge for alcohol have a cup of coffee - job sorted!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Cool, i'll give it a miss then... ! i'm not that fussed for coffee.....!
Would a can of caffienated drink have a similar effect? say red bull or even diet coke?I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Hiya Ev!
Goodness me, that's loads of progress! :T Good luck with running at the weekend.
I can't run today because my 'little' neck injury has turned into a full-blown twinging, hurting thing, and even walking hurts. I am dosing myself up on painkillers and exercising it gently though to try to get it moving again before my next proper run on Sunday."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Good luck over the weekend evab. It is usually a matter of just getting out there. I am sure you will be pleased you did. But you know that!
Talking about getting out there - that is where I am heading now. The sun has come out at the right time

I couldn't say as I never drink them - I can't imagine coke (diet or otherwise) being beneficial overall but I just don't like carbonated drinks so I'm biased. As for Red Bull I'd hazard a guess it has been designed for the purpose hence the slogan 'Gives You Wings'.
