Afternoon! Been on an autism course all morning and off to work in half an hour, so no time for running at all today :(

Oh, unless I run home from work? Eight miles, uphill, in the dark, through a major city centre, wearing a skirt and boots with 3 inch heels?? :D (not even Sorbathegreek (copyright Maz ;) ) insoles are going to help my knees cope with THAT!).

But I did buy running clothes, so that makes me a proper runner, right? :rotfl:
(and shhhhhhh! but I had to buy a smaller size......:shhh:)

I've also mapped out a 2 mile and 3 mile circuit starting from my house, pausing briefly at the school, taking in some of the local 'delights' (3 pubs, a seriously dodgy looking takeaway, a park full of hoodies and chavs) and collapsing back at my house several hours later . I'm feeling quite tired from all this effort you know!

Rich, thanks for the geeky science stuff, will read it more carefully later but at first skim it all seems to make sense.

Jinky - welcome :hello: and ignore Maz, I'm not addicted.....

*taps fingers, shuffles feet, paces about nervously and wonders when she can next get out for a run* :o

Just a quick running related post...my legs are feeling much better today (they were feeling rather "out of energy" yesterday) and I feel quite energetic generally. As I missed out on playing footy today (stupid Outlook), I was thinking of having another crack at the half marathon.

My first time for it was 2:19:30ish, which is over 10 minute miles, so would like to get under the 10min/mile avg today - and hope I can do this without killing myself (it's been 3 weeks since I did it the first time...must've had some training effect in that time?)...so, the question is...Is this a wise thing to do? Or is it pushing myself a bit hard on the back of the 10k?

2 days after a 10K is perfectly OK for a long run if the signs are positive.

This is pretty much what you're describing - the muscles feeling strong without any stiffness hangover and a general feeling of energy reserves being restored.

Running 13 miles is going to be very sub-optimal so its not putting a lot of stress on the body in itself. Its being run for distance. In full training a 13 mile easy run can easily be a 'rest' day because of the lack of intensity.

However, I would still always do these type of runs on a 2 lap basis, so if I've read the signs a bit incorrectly I can always call it a day at half way.

RE: the reduced sex drive, that is if you overdo it i.e. go out running hard every day. Why do you think we always say you need rest days? It's that (and the endorphins) that make us act like teenage boys sometimes :rotfl:
