As I missed out on playing footy today (stupid Outlook), I was thinking of having another crack at the half marathon.
My first time for it was 2:19:30ish, which is over 10 minute miles, so would like to get under the 10min/mile avg today - and hope I can do this without killing myself (it's been 3 weeks since I did it the first time...must've had some training effect in that time?)...so, the question is...Is this a wise thing to do? Or is it pushing myself a bit hard on the back of the 10k?
Thats def one for coach rich but my guess is that he will say its too soon and to leave it another couple of daysI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Not only do you loose your memory its the ability to actually think about what you were thinking about...its like a blank sheet

I guess its only now around 3 years later I have trained my brain again! (although some would still say I am a half wit!)

in fact so am i really!
i probably have more TMI information over here than i do over there! lol!!!
speaking of which i had to stop for a wee in the countryside last night, again!
Bit strange but there is something quite liberating about weeing in the countryside. Think it just reminds me of my childhood when we would be out playing for hours and never went home for the toilet just went in the field/bush/hay etcI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. Ooo just booked in a 7.5 mile with a friend this Sunday - never run with anyone else before so this could be fun
Still awaiting reply on LM - but its possible that I may be able to get a place for April 09 as some of my work connections have them as part of a related charity (its complicated)... not sure how it would work yet re: raising money...
Rich do you think April is too early?
Now then, girly of much contradictory confusion, what is happening to you?
We've gone from 'never, ever, ever am I going to even contemplate a marathon' to 'I quite fancy New York next November' to 'Is London in April too soon?'.
I may as well wait until you ask if its OK to run one this weekend!
But no, it is not too early should you prepare correctly. And there won't be much jet lag to worry about on this one!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I think actually going back to work does help you focus but I never used to have to write lists...now I can't do anything without one infact I often write lists reminding me I have a list of things to do :rotfl:
You quite fancy the idea of being a full time mummy then? Ummm i'll send my :A over to you for a week and you might change your mind. I took a brave step last night. I got a 12-month track pass for my local running track. £80 for the year, which is good value as a single session costs £4. I plan to use it when my son does his football training, which is on an all-weather pitch at the same sports centre. So last night I did:
3 x 400m warm-up slow jog.
7 x 400m at a moderate pace (for me) I tried to keep them consistent but they varied between 1:50 and 1:57. I had a 2-minute rest walking around between laps.
Then I did 3 x 400m cool-down followed by stretching.
I have done coached track sessions before, with a club, but only a couple, and a very long time ago.
I was wondering if anyone (Rich?) can advise as to whether this was worthwhile, and what other types of track session I could do.
Tracks are there to be run on so good on ya! They're the flattest running routes you can find, only trouble is your left leg will be shorter than your right if you do too much of this! (Now am I joking or not?).
So was the session worthwhile. Well, in the sense that you were covering the ground at between 7:20 and 7:48 miling pace very worthwhile. However, not optimal for running a half marathon in a couple of weeks. 1 mile reps are better which should be about 12 secs per lap slower than 400m reps. These are better at developing muscle endurance which is what you are looking for.
The other thing I would change if it was me is to get the rests between reps down to 1 minute (regardless of rep distance) to keep the muscles at optimum operating elasticity.
But all interval work is going to improve you so well done.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I think I'm looking more for an excuse to quit my job than having a particular desire to be a full time mummy... I enjoy the field I'm in but the job I have at the moment is not particularly challenging and the people are nice enough but just not my kind of people...26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073
