Not much to report here today except that my thigh still hurts a bit - dunno if I need to stretch it or strengthen it.. or just be kind to it?
Will be out for a run later, probably get the bus home and then go out from there. As for miles, so far this week I've done:
Mon - 2.5 walk
Tue - 2.5 walk, 2.5 run/walk
Wed - 5 walk
I dunno what to suggest about the thigh pain honey... surely some gentle stretching wouldn't do any harm...describe the pain, where exactly and when... maybe our collective brains will come up with the best stretches... although what with your pilates moves you are probably best qualified to know what works....I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

I'm trying to ponder now what you THOUGHT I meant!
PS I'm going to have to stop playing Tubthumping - its starting to get addictive!!

It's right at the top of my inner thigh (any higher and it would be into groin strain territory but it's not quite) - feels really tight and it hurts when I start walking/ running but then eases off as I warm up though doesn't go away completely. It came on during the last few miles of the Moonwalk and niggles on and off now  Mainly on the left side but a little bit on the right as well.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Would straddle stretches help? y'know sitting on bum on floor, legs outstretched then legs open and bend over in middle.....
it's not a stretch commonly used before or after runs cause who would want to sit on their bum by the side of the road.... maybe that's the one that's missing from your warm up/cool down....
worth setting aside the time to do that one somehow.....I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
my running club advocate Dynamic stretching on the warm up, i.e. walking and stretching out while warming up, and static stretches for the cool down....I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0

Red,
I've just had a look at a blog relating to abductor strain and it seems that the conclusion is that the cause was running too soon after Pilates:
So I soon learnt not to schedule Pilates anywhere near running, and never the day before an hard run or time trial. That's not to say Pilates is always like this; I'm sure it isn't. I've chosen to push myself hard, and Richard, who has used the system to bring himself back from a series of body-wrecking accidents, including bicycle and motorbike wrecks, has the knowledge to aid and abet me.
As for rehabilitation they describe exactly what Maz outlined.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

PS That means when Beinerts comes on saying we're straying from the subject, we can point to our academic research work as evidence that we're not slackers! What d'ya think?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
