I mentioned in my earlier post that I would try a longer run, as my training was for the 10k. Well now I'm definitely going to do that! I'd better warn the OH first though!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0

The only slight problem is that you're already enjoying the 'benefits' despite having barely reached the 'endorphin production threshold' which is supposed to be roughly a good, hard 10k.
What are you going to be like if you do a half marathon or marathon?
This subject could run and run (no pun intended).
Hah if I ever get to half marathon I'll die of shock anyway... I think its the footy training, but I'm definately more of a power runner (short distances fast pace)!0 -
Aaaaah i see, the reason i'm not hitting the heady heights is because i'm not doing the distance....
I do get a sense of elation and achievement but it aint carrying me up the stairs and outta my knickers, so it can't be endorphins! lol!!!
Well done on the run sally... i'm out again tonight, 2 miles only i reckon but it all counts!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

I think the fact that you came on here yesterday asking how you could run further than 6 miles gives your game away!!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Well I do that on the weekends and if you total my run every day (i.e 3 miles each way times 2) then I'm just in the range for the high... marathons however is not my goal!
I'd like to do a proper 10K first but i'm afraid I'll be last!0 -

You won't be, don't worry. You can already run 6 miles, which is just shy of 10k. There were some people walking after about 2k on Sunday!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Not a chance! Anyone who runs a few times a week will be nowhere near the back of a 10k field.
BTW If anyone really wants to get their endorphin production buzzing the best sessions by far for doing so are Fartlek sessions of 6-10 miles!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I did a 10k in 2004 and we were almost last but it didn't matter... we finished it, and we weren't stretchered off at any point...
Who cares if you're last, it only matters that you do it..... not that you're anywhere near in danger of being last Becks! (she's a wolf in sheeps clothing that one!)
Enjoy your walks HWGA - you're doing great....!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Rich, speaking of finishing places, according to the Nike website I finished around 20,000th out of 1 million. I find that highly improbable as that would put me in the top 2% and I don't think that can be right. I'd expect a much higher percentage to be beating my time?Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0
