Rich, what you said about "pushing the boulder over the top of a hill" was true for me too. After breaking 6K I was running 10k and more within a few weeks. I'm also puzzled why that should be!
I've never tried a half marathon, but I think I should have a crack at the distance when I've got a relatively free weekend. It's been a while since I've had a "run as far as you can" run, as I stopped increasing distance after 11-12k or so and worked on improving my pace instead.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

All I can say beinerts is just wait until you get in the last 2-3 miles of a marathon - your body might have fallen apart and left to another world but your mind thinks the nearest litter bin looks like Mylene Klass!
True, friskiness is definitely increased even after 10K even though by rights you shouldn't have the energy! (adrenaline maybe?)
I think we should change the subject as we're in danger of the thread heading into very adult territory!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Its the endorphins that make it addictive too right??
I love map my run .com - other peoples runs are soooo interesting! I just used it to map mine, but I'm new to London so my problem comes when the street doesnt look like the map I have in my head!0 -
Was supposed to get up and run this morning but it was dark...When did that happen! And it was blowing a hoolie and pouring with rain (also been up 4 times with DD in the night, I know excuses excuses!)
So going to try and get out tonight but depends what time DH gets back from work
Thanks for all your encouragement, Sounds like everyone is getting really into it. Donna will be thinking of you in your half a week on sunday, I still haven't had any info about the dam thing yet which is a bit strange!

Becky,
I'm just looking at this site. How do you look at other people's runs?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi Sorry just got back so a bit scatty still... yes Rich it DOES have that effect on me! Tee Hee.
Just do a search on the 'search for runs tab' and a list should come up in the area your interested in... these are runs posted by others, you view them in maps and see if anyone has rated them... I was really surprised to find runs for stowmarket on there last week so I guess its pretty comprehensive.
Didn't make my 4.25 - got a sore knee about 3.5 miles in and had to stop, but am going to try again tomorrow morning and still more than my usual!0 -
Now thats good to know! I couldn't really accept Maz's 'It's a man thing'. After all an endorphin is an endorphin.
I've worked out why I couldn't find other people's runs. I was using mapmyrun.co.uk, a completely different site, but good nonetheless.
Sorry to hear about the knee - I told you 3 miles was the ideal running distance. :shocked:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Maz is obviously a proper woman and just too well mannered to admit it...
Ahh that would explain a lot! I didn't think the site was that hard to use...
Yes it is especially when you do it twice a day, its not that bad the knee, but I play footie as well as run so I have to be careful I don't damage it. Determined to do the run tomorrow though - about 8 runners passed me on the way back and I always thought I was quite quick!0
