Hi Sally, could you share details of your six week training plan? I'd be really interested to see it.

    Hey Seawyn
Here is the one that I am using but have had a look online and they all look pretty much the same.

    Happy Running!

Did my 10 min run last night, I know it doesn't seem much at the moment but distance wise its 1.1 miles. I have to say im sticking to the 6 week training plan I found for doing a 5k race and then I can build on that once I can run the 5k. Maz how was your walk/jog last night?

Well done Maz! I don't say a lot here, but am starting to take notice of all I read about it. Reading about the overpronating and underpronating trainers is a really great help as I've always had problems with mine, but it would appear to me that I need the underpronating ones. Thanks for that info cnoelj, I'll get assessed when we go in town next week.

Hi all.. there's some good training plans for various distances on the Marie Curie site as well, will see if I can find the link.

Well, am kicking myself that I didn't know the entries for next year's marathon opened so early, I don't think I'm going to have the money available on Monday so dunno what I'm going to do. Got in touch with the charity that I want to fundraise for and they expect you to have applied for a ballot place first so hmmmm... If I can't sort it out am thinking I might go for the Edinburgh one which is in May.

As for right now, I've got a 16 mile route worked out - was planning to go this morning but my stomach is a bit funny, gonna sit here for a bit and see if it settles down, I'd rather get it done today

The Edinburgh Marathon is a lovely one apparently and is mainly downhill. I was due to run it last year but was ill and to pull it off. One of my friends from the club is running it and really looking forward to it.

Downhill.. ooh the knees  It is a nice route, I lived in Edinburgh until a couple of years ago and have gone out and watched it a couple of times. At least I know plenty of people I could stay with up there! :)

Well I've decided my body isn't having it today, headed out but have had to come back after about an hour (4 miles-ish) during which I've been achy, headachy, too hot, too cold... Spending rest of the day on the sofa and I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

How's everyone else going? Are you marathon runners back out on the road yet or still resting?

I went out and did a club run of about 4.5 miles on Thursday. Chatting away to one of the lads who had set the pace and realised after a mile and a half I was going far too quickly for a recovery run and dropped back. It was good though to be running just for the love of it rather than to achieve a mega goal. Having said that I have decided on my next race. The Crouch End 10k on May 21. I have done it a couple of times before and it is quite tough as 10ks go. Twice round the course and twice up the long hill past Alexanda Park Station.

I cant believe they opened it so soon either, only another 35,000 ballot places left. Did they always have a limit on how many could apply? The first time I applied about 12 years ago it was all paper applications and there was definatley no limit to how many people could apply.

Anyway I hope your feeling a bit better, no point pushing yourself too much if your not well.

Thats pretty good considering you ran the marathon only on Sunday, bet your legs were like..."oh no not again". What sort of distances do you run on your club nights? I would like to join a club but am scared I wouldn't be able to run the distance they run for.

In most clubs you will find that there are several runs going on and people will choose what they fancy for that particular evening. There will always be a short run of 4-5 miles in my club. A longer one of say 7 and maybe one of 8 or 9. There are always people of comparible standard you can run with too
