Last night I did my penultimate session before the big day. A leisurely and social 4 miles with people from the running club. There will be 28 of us on Sunday, with a further 28 working on the baggage lorries. There will be a party in the evening at the club.
Tomorrow evening I will do a similar run to the one I did last night.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -

Hi everyone
Did my last 3 miler tonight and just plodded along like an old woman, typical and probably pyshcological. Dog enjoyed it though!
Managed to get all my work done to cover the next two days time recording so can get myself sorted tomorrow. Unfortunately had some very bad news today which has put Sunday into perspective. Imagine it will make it very emotional.
Good luck Chris and SW :TLong haulers supporters DFW #109NR Loan #1 - £2951.18 Nov 08/0 -

Hello people of the DFW running club....!!!
I know this is a bad time what with FLM this weekend but i would like to join your merry brigade if i may?
To tell you about myself, i am 34 years old, female (see avatar!) and am approx 7 stones overweight. I am hoping to lose some weight in general terms but think i will never be a skinny bean, never was, never will be! (currently size 20. horror!!)
So i have been on a wee healthy excercise thing for a while and go to 'robics 2 times a week since january. However a pal has signed me up for RFL 5k in Aberdeen in June so some more in depth training is required.
Have done 2 x RFL's before (2005/2006) approx 37mins all running, and also did a 10k 76mins, mostly running (90%) so i know it can be done. (i should say i was still a size 16-18 then but fitness was much better)
For the last 2 weeks we have done a 2 mile walk twice weekly to try and build fitness up and today stretched to 3 miles which is equivalent roughly to the 5k, so next week we will be doing run 1 min/ walk 1 min, which i am dreading! but i know it must be done and i know improvements are soon made when you start doing those kinda runs. I'm going to 'robics once a week and upping the run/walk training to 3 times a week meantime as the running is my main aim, plus of course it will save me £3.50 class fee once a week!!!
So that is me,and that is my story.... i hope you don't mind my joining in?I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Welcome Maz and it is never a bad time.
You know you can do it, because you have done it before. Just build up slowly and keep consistency in your training. And dont forget to come back here for support“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
It's not a bad time at all and welcome aboard.
You've obviously done well with your 5k and 10k and I find it really is the best way of losing weight and keeping fit. The only thing I have found is once my weight regulated I then put lbs on as apparently muscle weighs more than fat and the marathon training has made my legs quite muscly - we can never win can we
Look forward to getting to know youLong haulers supporters DFW #109NR Loan #1 - £2951.18 Nov 08/0
