Hi all, good to hear we're all making a start again after the festive season! I have to admit to having done no running at all, but lots and lots of walking - 6 months till the Moonwalk! Gym at work opens again this week so my plan is to follow a 6 month walking training plan for the Moonwalk, do a class on one evening (they're starting a Salsa one which sounds good to me
), and run on the treadmill on another evening or two until the weather gets a bit better... I really can't face running in the cold
Good luck everyone xxDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I know BA, but trust me once the longer runs start ie, 10 miles plus the wight will drop off, I started at 15 stone, 2years ago, now down to 12 - 12.5 stone. yes I am running about 25-35 miles a week but it has taken me a while to get to that, the long slower runs are the calorie burners22/07/07 Debt - Tesco 17644 (6.1%) - Now 10500

Hello
much more positive post tonight.
Rested yesterday as promised by having a nice swim and felt refreshed this morning! My friend has lent me her treadmill which is now installed in the living room (much to DH's displeasure) and as I was scheduled to do speed training tonight I decided to do it on the treadmill.
So I did a 1 mile jog , and 3 x 1m speed with 3m recovery between each and finished with a mile jog - amazingly I managed to do the last 1 mile speed running in 8.30 mins :j :j I was still breathing afterwards as well - amazing :rotfl:
So I am going to do my speed training on the treadmill and other running outside - the best thing was that I did all this whilst watching TV - brilliant0 -
It is great how resourceful we can be with our training and see what works for us. And it is good you are feeling positive.
Remember to do the occasional speed run outside. This will show you how much you have advanced and a reminder that at least in part you are looking to see the evidence in outside organised events.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
Cheers cnoelj, I am so much more positive now.
Have just been looking at the fartlek training and may try some of that in Thursday's run. Am hoping that my speed training will be reflected in my runnning. My DH is faster than me so hopefully I will be able to keep up with him now and can keep pushing myself. I have managed to get down from a 10min mile to a 9m.m in 3 weeks in an identical run so I'm really chuffed.
How are you doing?0 -
Hi there any chance of joining you, just found your thread. Im training for the Bath Half in March but have been running a fair few years now, much cheaper than the gym (well except the trainers lol) could do with some motivation on these cold winters nights xGC 9/4-6/5

Nothing is ever that straight forward is it? When I ran my New Years Day 10k I was feeling a bit chesty. It seemed to get worse by last weekend and hence haven't been out this week. I am taking expectorant and now seems to be getting a bit better. The way I look at it is that I would rather have these little setbacks now rather than in a couple of months time. A week or so off now should not make too much difference. Just a bit frustrating because I had intended to get fully back with the running club this week and train with those who are doing the marathon. I am told that there is a good number of them.
