Great news BA. We will have to have a DFW fanclub to cheer you all on.
On a much lesser scale, I am running a 3 mile race on Sunday and am really nervous as I have not been training properly. I've only been out once a week and never run that far. Yes I am really ashamed.
If I go out today (brrrrrr) and Thursday, do you think I will be OK? Any tips anyone?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Thank you
What distance can you normally run? I would have thought that you would be fine going out tonight (yes indeed brrr) and Thursday - if you think that in effect a 10- 12 minute mile means it is just 30-36 mins - you are just popping out for half an hour run. The other thing to remember is that you can walk if you want. don't feel under any pressure to run all the way.
Good luck!0 -

That is brilliant news BA.
It is really exciting when you have a place confirmed.
We should all meet up at the Excell Centre during the registeration period and eat pasta together.
Oh is anyone going to the workshop in January organised by the charities. I went a couple of years ago, and you get some useful information on preparation, training, fundraising and the logistics of the day. I remember buying some running shoes for half price there, as well as having a proper computerised assessment for the most suitable shoes. Just a quick brag as I ran my 3-mile race today. I was chuffed to do it in 29 minutes as my only aim really was to get round and survive. There was a monster hill, the whole course was very hilly with lots of mud and long grass so it was a far cry from the pavements and neatly mown grass I've run on before.
Anyway I feel super chuffed to have done it and somehow agreed to do another race in the New Year and a five miler in May. Eek! So I'll be on this thread more regularly looking for tips from you pros.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Well done Sea, that's fantastic!!! You go girl!!!
I am just this minute sorting out my schedule for the marathon - I already have a garmin so I am going to download a schedule onto there which is running 3 times a week and cross training twice a week  If I start tonight I have 16 weeks to get myself sorted
Your 10mile time is fab SW. I haven't joined the running club yet as I have had so much to do with kids and Xmas etc, but Thurs 3rd Jan is my first visit - marked on the calendar. Hoping that will make me quicker.0
