Well done BA, thats more like it

Welcome aboard singlemum, what are you hoping to do the Bath 1/2 in?? and dont say trainers, top an running shorts!!!

I will spare you the joke that I thought of.

However it reminds me of the time as a kid when our great aunt visited from Bath where she had moved to years previously. She kept drinking loads of water, because as she pointed out to the amusement of us kids, she couldn't drink the Bath water.

Seriously though welcome singlemum and hope that you meet your goals for the half marathon.

  • Hi all

    Hows the running going ?

Managed 16miles yesterday on my long Sunday run in 2:33

The first 14 was OK and then bang, body gave up, first time past 14 miles, when people said the training is soul destroying they were right. i have never felt as bad as I did when I reached 14.5 miles, everything was hurting, head was staying stop and we still have to do 10 miles in APRIL after that - ouch!!!

Didnt stop though kept running, jogging slowly actually and eventually finished, Sunday afternoon was a waste of time after the run, felt knackered!! but feeling OK today and have to do a 6 mile recovery run tonight as well - Oh joy

  • Hi SW

Sound like you are doing brilliantly managing 16 miles this far in - as you said to me you have to put a bad run behind you.

I am still on the right course I think. We did 10 miles yesterday, were supposed to do 9 miles but DH took us the long way  and did it in 90 mins so really pleased with that. Have to say I didn't enjoy it entirely but felt damn good at the end of it all - I too was knackered for the rest of the day.

Have got rest day today so will probably be running and then some speed training on the treadmill tomorrow.

Hope your recovery run goes ok.

just found this thread and wanted to say well done to all, used to run myself a few years ago before the Blackpool marathon (4th in 4 weeks) ended my career!!
was doin well too (best marathon 3:00:03 London 1999)!!

just wanted to pass on congrats to all levels, i used to find though that rather than measure the miles on a sunday (long run) to try and just run (fast or slow as you like) the time on your feet rather than miles run is invaluable for marathons and 10k alike, sure lot more experinced guys on here though so wll shut up now, but once again good luck in all pursuits and well done!!

  • Well done BA, that was a brilliant run 10 miles in 90 minutes

Your right edgarjay, we are actually running to time but with these GPS's nowadays we now exactly how much we have done, was 16.2 miles apparantly I found out today so getting there. Plan next week is 2hrs 50, hopefully about 18 miles, then back down to 2:30 ish the following week and 16 miles, then upto 18miles and then 20 miles

Starts hurting me after 15 miles I have found out
