  • hi all came I come back & join you! Hace actually started runnng now and have done 2x 2.7 mile run/walk's the last two weeks. Not bad for a beginner & I'm dead chuffed with myself! When I was huge I'd never have managed that walking never mind run/walk. Great to have some DFW runners about as you lot will understand why I have to go to JJB sports to get kit and not the latest gear but under the "oo its a bargain" category!! Mind you I have put a garmin forerunner 50 on my Christmas list! Ennell bra just arrived but too big so going to send it back but the one I have just aint doing it! & quite painful! As a newby runner what do people recc as a good way to start in terms of goals? I feel nervous about entering any races etc and am just inclined to focus on little & often for now. Have started going to the Womens running network & was really disappointed that I couldnt go (& try out new kit!!) last night! JJB sports have a great sportswear sale on at the moment & some running stuff 80% off which is great! Anyway all tips gratefully received!

  • Well done In Search - I always find it is important to set yourself goals, there are normally races around that are short distances to start with, google races in your area and really say to yourself I can do that. Dont think about anyone else, you are out there doing it, they aint!!

When I started I could only run a couple of miles, now I find 7 - 8 fairly! easy. So it can be done and you dan do it!!

    Hi ISOM

I'm a near beginner and have just entered a 3 mile race to give me a deadline to train for. I've never run that far and am dead scared, but I know I wouldnt get out there without the motivation of an event to train for.

    Good luck!

  • OK guys, bit worried, last week was running and felt something go as to speak in the top of my left foot, right near the top and working its way down to the top of the big toe, had it x rayed and no stress fracture. Ran 5 miles last night and it is worse today, seeing physio this salvo, but has anybody else experienced this????

  • We have a running club too? Great!
Southwester, have you puller a ligament? what sort of pain is it? Dull ache? Sharp stabbing? etc.

I'm doing the Santa Dash here in Liverpool a week on sunday. Its a 5K, and we're the world record holders for having the most Santas (in full anta suits...) running in one place. (Got the medal form last year to prove it...) Got stiff competition this year from all around the world though....

I love running. I gave up my gym membership last year and bought a home gym and swopped the treadmill for the roads. Best descision i ever made!

Hi ALL, right here is the beginning of my resolution to get fit and post on the running club board more to!!

SW, I've had e-mails from BA but admittedly no MSE activity for a while. Will text her and give her a boot for you.

I experienced exactly the same thing after the LM in 2006 right on top of my right foot, turned out i'd twanged one of the mini muscles that connect the tarsals together, They go around the foot like a band. It stillg ives me a bit of jip occasionally now but if you are careful you should be fine.

Stuntman I love running, this'll sound mental but esp in the rain!! the sense of freedom it gives me just to get out there and run away from work, problems, etc etc is fab. I've really missed it while i've been poorly but can gradually ease myself back into it again.....

....Starting tonight!! OH is out for the eve which will mean i can run, wheeze, and collapse indoors without looking stoopid !! he he!!! so here i go!!

I saw the santa dash on RW magazine, looked hilarious fun!!!! GOOD LUCK!!
