Sold one last night for £40. Very obscure and only listed a few days. Seems that the more obscure the better with Amazon.April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£1500

I had this happen to me once (couple of years ago) where someone put in an A-Z claim, I received no emails and it was only when I queried a refund which I had not initiated that I found out it had happened. The customer got their money back and the book arrived shortly afterwards, the customer did not even have to wait the fixed number of days before submitting the claim
FFM
there were no open claims.
they are still investigating (however they have already taken the money out of my bank account)Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone!just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close

Hi all,
Some help please.
I sold a book 2 weeks ago on Amazon for £25, I sent it and had an e-mail back to say that it had arrived the next day and some very nasty remarks to say that I had sent a softback instead of the hardback the buyer had bought "and that you better be ggod at explaining yourself" was the comment. I checked my listing and saw that I had listed it correctly. So I sent a very nice e-mail to the buyer to saw that my book was correctly listed and that if they returned the book to me I would refund all their money and would also look to see who was selling the book they wanted. Fine, all Ok, got an apology back. Well apparently the person just resealed the package, wrote on it returned to sender and put it in the nearest letter box. The book was reposted on Monday Sept.10th and has not come back to me yet.
My question, what should I do if my book necver turns up? I had a proof of posting ofcourse but the buyer did not get one. Obviously I am going to have to refund them their money, but I am not too happy about losing £25 and my book.:smileyheaMagenta0 -
If they haven't got proof of posting I don't see why you have to refund. I would put your case to Amazon.0

Hi Magenta, you were up early or late when you posted! Thought I'd reply as no one else has but someone with more experience than me may come along to add to this.... I think I remember reading [possibly on the Amazon seller connection] that it can take up to 6 weeks for a package to be returned as they go via a Belfast office so it may turn up yet.
Also did they just bung it in a post box? If it is obvious that it has been opened and resealed then then the PO may not just redeliver it but I'm not sure what would happen.
If your listing wasn't incorrect ie it was a paperback listing then I'd contact Amazon CS to see what they say though I suspect you may end up refunding. I beleive there are lots of probs at the moment with the format of items changing after they've been listed ie from Hardback to Softback or vice versa. I've taken to including the format in my description as a wee safeguard in case I get a problem.
Good luck with getting it sorted

Thanks for your help Teapot,
It does look as though I will be having to refund the book. It hasn't come back yet, but as you say it may take weeks. I will keep my fingers crossed.
I have been looking for a hardback copy of this book for the buyer and I can see how the mistake was made as Amazon seems to have mixed hardbacks and packerbacks together in their listings. Now when my books come up for re listing I will be adding paperback or hardcover to the description as you have suggested.
Really the buyer knows they have "got us over a barrel" so as to speak, in these situations. They know that they can give us a negative rating, which will put all our sales down, if they want to.:smileyheaMagenta0 -

I had her last weekend - because I was away for a couple of days and had to apologise for late postage of course - but also because I have textbooks for sale and it's the start of term. I sold 4 in 3 days. I can recommend English Language Teaching and teaching theory books as an area to collect in for Amazon.0 -
The selling fairy comes and goes here, I'll sell 5 books a day for two days, then nothing for 5 days then back to several a day...I'm obviously sharing my selling fairy with someone else and we both have her part time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
