Hi Guys
I've been out of Amazoning for a while but just started listing again and have a bit of a dilemma which I hope you can help with. I've had an enquiry from US about a textbook I have for sale asking if I will post to US.
The textbook book though says not for sale in US. Would you sell the book still?
If so any thoughts about how to go about sending to a person abraod. I'm guessing I can relist to allow international posting and increase the price so I am covered?
All thoughts appreciated!0 -
Help please!
I came across two books today whilst out hunting but they are not showing up on Amazon database so I can't list. They are both easily found on bookfinder and going for £7 and above. What should i do or should that be what can i do in this situation? I don't want to get stuck with them

Thanks soolin for referring me to this thread when I should be elsewhere
Hello everyone.
There's not a lot I can add to this huge thread as yet as I've had to put my books on holiday for a few weeks. However, I went to cash in my money from Green Metropolis, and noticed that the format had changed. Has anyone been affected by it?
If it helps anyone, because I needed to reduce the amount of books I had, and to free up some space, I listed a lot that would normally go on to Amazon on to Green Metropolis instead. Obviously any profit I expected went down, but until the holiday settings were put into place, I began to sell, on average, about 20 books a week, instead of the usual one a month lol.
ETA - when I mentioned the format had changed, I meant the list of books, not the money lol.
When the books are back off holiday, I'll add any useful info if I can think of any - like good selling booksOh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott0 -
Nice to see you over here passion...this thread should be retitled 'the wasting time when we should be doing something more productive' thread.
Well, I have to say that my experience of home freecycling with my box of goodies in the drive has proved interesting. I put a whole bundle of new things out every time the box looks a bit low and people are taking things. In fact someone had an entire set of Pavrotti videos yesterday that I had forgotten were in there. I even had a batch of brand new baby clothes, still tagged (one of my many failed ebay enterprises) and they all went.
So far the amount in the donation jar has reached the dizzy heights of £1.45, so possibly not a great success charity fund raising wise :rotfl:

Hi Passion8 am not sure if this is what you are talking about but Greenmet now displays the listings for up to 10 copies of a book at a time. I'm guessing that its now possible to choose a copy from this list to buy.
Previously they only showed the details for 2 copies at a time and it was all done on a queuing system of first listed was the next to be bought.
Hopefully this new system will mean more choice for buyers and more sales for us :j

Hi teapot2
That's what I meant, the new display showing 10 books rather than 2. I'm still trying to work out what the advantages are in selling but there's a real advantage in buying. How many £3.75 books were being hidden by the 2 £5.75 ones for instance
Did the old format say there were 5+ copies available?
Is there a multiquote option on here?
(I just lost my last post in the ether so I hope this sends ok lol)Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott0 -

Hi passion8 - yes the old system used to say 5+ copies available and as you mentioned, only showed details of 2 at any time and you couldn't choose from those I think. I guess the new system is an advantage if you are selling at £1 off or less postage than other sellers as buyers might go for that option if there's a choice? Not sure of other benefits though. Sold another one on GM today - have had a few lately :j .
Re multiqotes - I usually end up cutting and pasting - there may be multiquote option but i haven't found it0 -

Hi, I have one of those Miriam Stoppard books - different ISBN but also couldn't list it I think mine was published by WH Smith or something - can't quite remember. Anyway in the end I stuck it on Greenmet with a postage allowance and its still there!!!! I think its one of those books where lots of different editions were published.
If you are pro-merchant on Amazon you can create your own listings but otherwise not a lot you can do I don't think - sorry. [Ebay I guess if you sell on there?]0 -
Hi folks,
From browsing this thread I've discovered that you can sell books on play.com as well as amazon. I've had some books on amazon for yonks of time. Is it worth me listing them on play.com at the same time or am I just asking for complications? What are peoples thoughts regarding play.com?
thx0
