Selling your Stuff on Amazon Part 10 - Discussion Thread

Hi folks,
Well I've just received my first payment transfer from Amazon and I picked up my first load of books for resale during the floods last week (sitting in a car full of books with water lapping around the car for a couple of hours is not good for the nerves) - I assume that this means I've got the Amazon bug?
A quick question to those with more experience than me (i.e. virtually everyone) -
Beyond the top 100 is there an Amazon chart that can be accessed or downloaded? The top 10,000 in an Excel spreadsheet would be useful
I think I can guess the answer but I'm still hoping!“This isn't life in the fast lane, it's life in the oncoming traffic.” - Terry PratchettDebt Target - £0 Target Date - January 2015eo 07/13 - £23,080 eo 08/13 - £21,084 eo 09/13 - £20,347 eo 10/13 - £19,5550 -
I'm fascinated by this thread where a pro seller says they can set their own postage charges on Amazon, is it just books then that have a set fee as I thought each category had a specific postage charge applied?

Ive sold DVDs and a few electricals before and never been able to set my own postage charge, Although i have a vague memory of reading about this on the amazon board. I think its an elevated status not just pro-seller.

I only pretend I do!
I don't know much about the 'elevated status' but the thread that was referred to was electrical items, where the P&P is higher, and is on certain items weight related. Don't know much about this category!
As for the enhanced seller status, there does seem to be sellers that have an extra tab on their store front showing shipping charges different to those set by amazon. Only one seller having this feature has been at all forthcoming about it and they don't know how it works, or if it actually does, as their items don't receive any different postal allowance.Do You Twitter?

That story has provided a great deal of amusement, and I'm just glad I don't have a cordless Jigsaw or typing would be a bit difficult now! But it's healing well now thanks for asking!Do You Twitter?

Not sure I follow having not read the story, but if we're talking jigsaws with those sharp little blades that protrude downwards it could be a lot worse than your fingers/typing you might be worrying about .... :eek:0

It was the big warning that made me look!!!
I think you should let the others in on the 'story', you'll probably get loads of sympathy just not too many requests for help with DIY.
