I will move this to the main Amazon thread as I think you'll find different sellers will give different answers. Mine were not particularly good, but I think other sellers did very well. My best month so far was April/May (I run my accounts from the 9th to the 8th not on a calendar basis).

I'm getting a sinking feeling about my vacation settings here..I was one of those affected this time last year when it became impossible to deactivate the vacation setting, and my stuff stayed off line an extra 8 days after supposedly going live.

I know they say it can take a while, but it's been around 12 hours since I turned my listings back on, and I currently have 1 book showing for sale and approx 1100 missing

Fingers crossed they all go live this evening, I don't want to miss another evenings possible sales.

Does anyone know what the percentage of sales rises by on amazon over the xmas selling period?

It depends what you are actually selling. In my experience used book sales suffer a dip and new books increase. Though it does depend on what subject the books are.

Has anyone ever told you make absolutely perfect sense :T It is so obvious now you say that, I can see why Christmas wasn't good for me as i sell weird and wonderful second hand stuff, not really 'stocking filler' types and very few 1p novels or new books. The chances of someone stumbling accidentally across one of my books is virtually nil, they tend to have to be looking for them, hence my lower put through rate now I come to think of it.

The things i sell are brand new dvds, which i sell an average of about 20 a day, but im wondering wether to wait until closer to xmas with quite a few of my items and put some in the attic, as i`m running out of space to store the stuff ive listed.

    :o
Guess the thanks button is bust again

A model seller that many on the amazon boards look up to is a seller that only has a stock of just over a couple of thousand books, and sells over 10% of these a week, very few of which are at a penny! The majority of which are very highly ranked on the amazon best seller list. It's easy to see the business model he's using, just not so easy to source that sort of stock regularly and in that sort of quantity.

rare_stuff..I did press thanks but obviously nothing happened, so I've just done it again!

My books are still not live :( I listed a couple of books I read on holiday and sold one of those this morning (see rare-stuff is right..brand new blockbuster and lightly read sells in a matter of hours..at less than a third of cover price though), but my main stock of over 1000 is still showing as closed.

Please someone re assure me this isn't going to be a repeat of the fiasco last year when I had no live listings for over 8 days

OK, it's well over 24 hours now and still my listings aren't live. The 36 hours will be up after CS closes for the evening, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow and if my listings are still showing as closed contact them then and ask them to help.

  • Hi Soo

Hope your holiday was a good one.

I can't remember if you are a pro-seller, if you are, you might want to consider downloading all of your listings so that you can delete them when you go on holiday and then upload them immediately when you return.

That way you would not need to be off any longer than necessary.
