NATIONWIDE INDUSTRIAL ACTION STARTING WEDNESDAY JULY 25th
Royal Mail is hugely disappointed that the Communication Workers Union (CWU) has announced a series of 24-hour strikes over a two-week period beginning at 7pm on Wednesday 25th July 2007 and ending at 12 noon on Wednesday 8th August.
This phase of the industrial action amounts to two further 24-hour strikes which hit different Royal Mail sites at different times.
We are currently assessing the likely impact on mail services, but we have well-developed contingency plans in order to reduce the effect of the strike and keep disruption to our customers to a minimum.
PLANNED INDUSTRIAL ACTION MONDAY JULY 23rd in NORTHERN IRELAND
The CWU previously announced a 24 hour strike in Northern Ireland only, starting at 7pm on Sunday July 22nd and continuing through Monday July 23rd.
What should customers do to help minimise disruption during the strike in Northern Ireland?
      • If possible, please bring your planned mailings forward to avoid the strike
      • Access to Royal Mail services is available on strike days but limited to a single collection from Post Boxes outside of Post Offices and from the Post Offices not affected by strike action. Collections may be earlier than the normal advertised times
      • We will attempt to deliver Special Delivery items but we cannot guarantee delivery and so the money back guarantee will be suspended for items due to be delivered into Northern Ireland (BT postcodes) on Monday 23rd July. Additionally, Special Delivery guarantee will be suspended for items posted from Northern Ireland (BT postcodes) on Monday 23rd July
      • Parcelforce Worldwide’s guaranteed services will remain unaffected
      • Royal Mail’s Branch Direct, Sameday and Door to Door services remain unaffected
      • All other mail services will be subject to delay
How can customers work with us to minimise disruption to their mail in Northern Ireland?
        • If possible, bring your planned mailings forward to avoid the strike
        • Try to avoid posting on the day of any strike and post early in the day if you really have to
        • Try to post at your local Post Office but be aware that we will not be able to accept bulk mailings (refer to the messages for Business Customers below)
        • The normal customer service helpline - 08457 740 740 - will operate but will be very busy - please be patient
        • Royal Mail’s website will contain the latest updated information
Messages for Business Customers in Northern Ireland
          • Royal Mail will NOT be able to collect mail from business customers
          • Advance your bulk mailings as much as you are able and get them into the network as soon as possible
          • Please provide us with as accurate and as early forecasts as possible
          • Tell your account manager or Customer Operations Manager (COM) as much as possible about your mailing plans, especially those that are most important. This will help us to plan our resources
          • If you can, bring your planned mailings forward to avoid the strike
          • Speak to your local Customer Operations Manager(COM) about what arrangements may be possible for the weekend
STRIKE ACTION AT CROWN POST OFFICE BRANCHES
Separately, the CWU has also announced strike action at all Crown Post Offices in the Post Office Network, today, Thursday 19th July, between 06.00 and 12.00. Please note, this action does not affect the 14,000 plus sub-post offices nationwide.

Are you sure you will be able to turn on your holiday settings and leave your book empire???
Don't spend all your time thinking about the SDN's you're missing.

I did win one of the first Gameboys on the inside of a Crunchie Bar wrapper once - but that's it.
