Selling your Stuff on Amazon Part 10 - Discussion Thread

Just a thought,
Instead of refunding the customer all the money and postage costs, (which I assume you won't get back form Amazon or thier fees for that matter) why not simply spend the money having another seller fulfull the order for you?
You may end up with a friendly competitive seller, a happy customer, excellent frrdback and the chance the other seller may return the favor in future?
Thinking  aloud again, sorry if it is a dumb idea.....

I can't believe it ! I've just sold a copy of "Diana her true story" for £2
!
To be honest I'd forgotten I had it - came in a joblot.
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Hi newboy, your suggestion is a great one. However mine was the cheapest copy and all the others within a pound or two are from sub 90% sellers so I would not normally buy from them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. help needed;
I bought CD from a charity shop today, and need to know the ISBN equivalent number (ASIN?). The number displayed along the bar code provides no results, even tho this is a mass market CD, of which there must be loads of out there.
Where should I be looking for the number on this thing? Am i mean to minus off digits or something?"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -
Hi Tsharp - not sure if this will help with the problem but with the ASIN number on CDs they are a wee bit different to the ISBN numbers. Quite often the bar code has a set of numbers at the bottom and there are also 2 numbers outside the bar code.
When you are inputting for listing you don't just include the numbers in the bar code bit, first you put in the number before it, then the ones in the bar code then the number after it - hope that makes sense.
Otherwise you'll just have to try searching by title or artist.....0 -

Hi Tsharp
I don't list many CD's so am no expert here, I have played around with some CD's and my barcode scanner and generally you do need to input all of the numbers from the barcode. However, I have found one where this does not work - not too sure how to make it work - I would suggest asking on the Amazon discussion board as one of the larger sellers does sell alot of CD's and he is generally very helpful.
Amazon's own help on this subject provided a possible reason why this happens but no solution:
UPC
When entering a UPC, be sure to include the smaller numbers on the left and right sides of the bar code.
Note: In many cases, Amazon.co.uk carries only the latest version of a product. Older versions or editions may have different UPCs. As a result, you may be unable to find an item by UPC, even though a very similar item is listed at Amazon.co.uk.

Hi folks - things have been quiet but now picking up.
I've just sold something and was about to post it when luckily I checked my email - buyer asking if I can deliver to Dublin instead and doesn't mind paying more
I'm happy to do this (from his email he's a solicitor so will pay up) but how do I bill him for extra postage? I'd prefer to bill the exact amount as it's heavy so the standard postage wouldn't cover it.
I can find a refund button but not a "submit an invoice" button0 -
What you'll have to do is either refund for the book and relist it with international delivery accepted and ask him to buy it again, you'd increase the price to cover the extra weight of the book
OR if you take paypal send him an invoice for the extra
OR ask him for a cheque0 -
Thanks AT
Cheque's probably easiest, but I'll ask my customer which they'd prefer

Careful! A cheque is going going to be easy if he can send it in GB£ or if your bank won't charge extra for paying in euro's!
I still think the easiest will be to relist with international as an option, that way you are also covered by the a-z guarantee, sending it to a different address to that supplied by amazon will invalidate any protection you may have.Do You Twitter?
