That has happened to me as well, with a very expensive book. The postlady who delivers our mail said 'they are all thick in the sorting office and all are temporary staff'. It's amazing that anything gets to its destination if that's the case!!0 -
What the hell is this 'merlin' person going on about?? Have I missed something...0

Funnily enough i had a book delivered to me recently, very clearly labelled etc, I have to admit i put it back in the post box rather than pay again and it turned up safely but it was only a RISI,
3 sales over the weekend makes up for a poor week ! still not great but getting there

Hi guys... newbie amazonian here.. soolin suggested I come over here and hang out with you guys...
Been reading the thread and I think you lot are brilliant at this Amazon thing!!!
I have a question... is it worth putting on a big text book about computer programmes? There is one other on there and I think it's listed for about 15GBP, but I'm just thinking it's really big!!!
It's sbout the size of an A4 sheet and about 10cms thick!
Were would you find the price guide for packages? And can you put on the preferences that it's for sale in UK only?
Thanks guys!
p.s, how do I become a member of the Amazon club???0 -

Welcome to the thread Little Pickle
If the book is listed for £15, I would happily list it for sale to UK only (perhaps say in the listing for potential overseas customers to contact you for an overseas quote - you can then relist at a much higher price to cover your postage). For really heavy books like this I use the £5.99 service (think it is called Pay per drop) off of Ebay - they used DHL last time I used them, so I got tracked next day delivery for £5.99 - a real MSE bargain.
Alternatively, there is a price finder on www.royalmail.com plus other useful info on sizes and services.

Welcome Little Pickle (great name BTW!)
Funky monkey has given good advice about how to check whether a book is worth selling. As for numbers, if you wait until Apprentice Tycoon is around (or pm her, she is great and doesn't bite) she'll give you a number.
