In my experience, textbooks, self-help and up-to-the-minute novels sell best.

I put a few videos on Amazon but none have sold yet - and I didn't bother listing the 1p ones.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • I've a huge washing-machine box full of great videos which people have given me recently after upgrading to DVDs. I'm not sure where to try selling them and for what price. Do many people still buy videos these days? I see them at carboot sales all the time at about 25p each, and really good ones at that:eek:. I never know whether to buy them all up to sell on or leave well alone:confused:

Leave well alone. Videos are selling at 25p because that it is the market value nowadays. Most people are transferring to DVDs and the size and cost of posting videos makes them a pretty poor investment.

Leave videos well alone unless you have knowledge to pick out those few that sell very well due to never being released on DVD.

I've just got back from my local auction house, they used to churn out huge boxes..maybe 60+ videos at a time for £3, but now even they refuse to sell them.

Also the posting allowance on videos is poor as it does not cover the £1.52 you need to send them 2nd class as a packet, so I think (and someone please correct me) that you only make a profit if you sell at over £1 a go minimum.

I have a quite a few classic videos that I put on Amazon. I have sold 2 in the last couple of weeks for £9 and £5. I don't bother with the cheaper ones. I use them to replace the cases of the good ones if needed.

    Woooooo Hooooooooo :)

    I'm all impressed with myself.

I started on Amazon selling my own collection of fiction books. Highest price about £5.

When I have had time I have been looking at books in charity shops, getting isbn numbers & checking how much they are selling for on Amazon. (great tip from here)

    Today I sold a book for £25. I paid £1.99 for it about 8-10 weeks ago :)
