  • Hi all,

A bit of an up and down month really, good points are that the bathroom has been finished yay! bad points are that we are still spending too much on food and I had to pay out for a train ticket for work and won't get that back until next month plus nobody's expenses for last month were authorised so no payment this week. It all adds up when it's coming out of our budget.

I earned a little from my second job and have done quite a few hours this month so far so need to get my pay claim sorted.

Am very miffed with in-laws as still no news on the money they said they were going to give us, I know it's very kind and would be so lucky to receive it but if they haven't got it why offer it

Therefore we are going to carry on as if we are not getting it after all, plan of action:

    * Showed dh how much we spent on food last month, agreed to have the accounts book open at all times to show what was left and what was still to pay for.
    * I have paid childcare up to Easter hols, so straight out of the budget
    * Paid car tax online today, £30!
    * A lovely man at T**co had left a money off voucher at the till I went to so got £7 off my shopping
    * I have 2 birthdays, an awards ceremony and a trip to Manchester this month so need to allocate funds for these
    * T**co credit card is at £1300 due to train ticket so need to focus on getting this back down, I'll pay my c/b to it on 1st April.
    * Waiting for a quote on replacing dd window but I think that will have to be done next month.

A quiet weekend, lots of marking to do so very cheap.

  • In dire need of an overhaul of every area in my work and home life, in terms of work things I need to finish my final assignments for the year then I can concentrate more on my second job over the summer and therefore more income.

At home we are at a stand still on decorating as still waiting for the window quote for dd room then we can get that sorted.

Debt busting has gone a bit backwards as had to use cards when expenses were late being paid so plan is to get them back down and get rid, some good news for dh was that he has had a long overdue payrise which puts him on the same salary as the other technicians. This extra will be in this month's pay packet :j

I really need to try and focus the kids on clearing out any unused toys, books etc. we want to move so this will be a good decluttering before packing.

This afternoon I will plan spends for the month:

    * Wedding on 17th May, I have already got a dress second hand so just need shoes, kids need smart clothes and shoes, dh is fine.
    * Climbing sessions for me and dd
    * After school club fees
    * Food and fuel for the month
    * mother in law birthday

Despite the wedding we should be able to have a reasonably low cost month so must make sure to post on here more to keep me on the straight and narrow!

  • One room decluttered, one massive bag for the recycling, one for the bin, a few bits to donate and some to sell. I've agreed with dd that she will get any money from the sales for her pocket money.

One down, many more to go!

Hoping to find lots more to sell as I really want to put some towards debt. Right next area calling.....

I get paid from second job on Friday so can put a nice lump on to card.

Still have loads of assignments to do but really not in the mood to start, kitchen and attic left to sort through but that can wait until tomorrow.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun!

  • Evening all!

No room sorting today as I took my Mum out for the day to Penrhyn Castle for her birthday present, her birthday was actually in March but due to me working I didn't have a day off until now over the Easter hols, my kids don't go back to school until next Tuesday so my Dad had them for the day. Nice to spend some time with her on my own.

One lady came to pick up a small bag of toys so £1 added to the pot, getting frustrated with two people who said they want things but have let me down for the last two days.

Tomorrow I'm off to buy my own birthday present of climbing shoes and then climbing in the evening.

    Still haven't started assignment, bah!

    Hello Chrysalis

Thought I would pop in and read your diary and wish you luck on your own debt journey (love the reason for your name!).

Your family sound lovely and it's so nice to see that you are all so active.

Your de-cluttering seems to be going well and I hope your in-laws sort the money out for you soon. It'll make a big difference!

  • Thanks for your comments Seasidegirl, my kids are fab I love that they are so crazy!

    * Had a good day today as went with my dd to buy climbing shoes and also got her a harness, we put them into practice today at the climbing wall and a huge difference in having your own kit. Dd was allowed to stay for my session tonight as she is still on holiday so it was lovely that she was able to belay for me and vice versa.

Shoes were my birthday present from dh and the kids, it's actually my birthday tomorrow but we wanted to get them to use today. I also received a couple of cheques in the post for my brother and sister, I'll pay them on to the c card. My brother made me chuckle by making it out for £19.76, my year of birth!

I sold a few little things on fb page so will add that to the c card payment.

  • Thanks Caz x

Had a lovely birthday, received some gorgeous Lush products from my best friend and a B**ts voucher, I hardly shop there any more so should last a while. This evening my dh took me and the kids out for a fantastic Italian meal, we live I a small town so able to just walk up the hill so no fuel costs.

Today I also had an order delivered of some cleaning products, ordered via a fb page with no delivery charges and so I got 5L bottles of washing liquid, fabric conditioner, multi purpose liquid and washing up liquid, kitchen rolls and 40 toilet rolls for £33. I still have some washing up liquid some won't be starting to use that yet but I'll keep a track of how much washing liquid and fabric cond. lasts to work out costs.

Sold another item via fb page, nothing else is going so will have to think again about where these would sell.

See you tomorrow, 2nd pay day yay!
