Happy weekend, accounts done not too bad if we stick to budgets for the next 3 weeks until payday so pleased with that. MOT is due on the car but not expecting anything to be wrong as in good shape, fingers crossed.

We have decided that we will go on a proper family holiday next year and before you imagine us jetting away to far off shores it will be a camping/canoeing/play holiday in Scotland. We are going to sit down after lunch to start planning now so we can put some money aside for it, we don't need any camping kit but need a roof rack for the kayak so this will cost quite a few pennies.

There's an air show just up the prom tomorrow so will pop out to watch that at some point, then Monday and Tuesday will be spent getting ready to go back to school/work boo!

    Have a good weekend, C x

  • A nice weekend, ran 9 miles yesterday morning which was a bit more than planned but I wasn't sure how far the route was that I had planned. Not feeling too bad today except for a slightly achy hip. We didn't go to the air show but we could see most of it from our house and the Red Arrows flew right over the house!

Today I told the kids that they could do one last activity as the rest of the day and tomorrow will be spent getting ready to go back to school and work. They have chosen bowling so off there in a minute.

Whilst at my Mum's yesterday she gave me a cheque for the porch door, I've banked this and will transfer over to savings account until needed so it doesn't get mixed up with our regular money. I'm still waiting for a final measurement and fitting date.

Nothing happening money wise, I must send off my pay claim for second job otherwise that won't happen and generally get stuck into more marking and booking appointments with my learners many of whom need a kick up the backside!

    See you later, C x

Wow Chrysalis, I'm so jealous. I love planes and would love to be able to watch from home. There is a big one each year at RAF Cosford but it gets so busy and the roads so congested I've never been brave enough to go.

Good luck with the marking. The learners I work with are mostly on the Autistic Spectrum and together with the craft I teach it doesn't involve any marking as such. Lots of reports to write though.

Good news about the money for the porch. It's nice to get the bigger jobs done isn't it.

  • I thought I would have a look back over what the progress is on the debt since I first started the diary, to be honest I'm not very pleased and could do much better but I've also looked at other factors that we have to take into account.

    Debt:

    very £190 paid :j
    overdraft £305 paid :j
    argos £358 paid :j
    overdraft £1000 / £900 :o
    overdraft £950 / £660 :)
    credit card £1250/1388
    credit card £1250 / £1690
    credit card £2500 / £2500 :o

    Now owe Mum £912 :o

Now during that time we have also had to change our car (this figure isn't in the list until I pay off everything else!), we have replaced dd window, new dishwasher, generally spent on some decorating, a new matress for ds and the rest has been usual spending which doesn't make me glow with pride.

However some positives since the new year are the start of my second job, dh got a pay rise, and I now only have one year left on my degree.

We really need to get a grip and knuckle down as we are holding ourselves back, last month I set a goal of paying back £210 per month to pay off the overdraft by Christmas. I paid back £290 in the first month so well on target, with the additional cost of the porch door I will need to pay my mum a good chunk every month so I'm planning on still using funds from my second job for the overdraft and the child benefit money for my mum.

So not brilliant but not all gloom and doom.

New target for the month £210 / £0

  • Good morning, we've been up early to get things ready for school all uniform sorted and PE kit ready amazing that I managed to find everything quickly. We have also made treats for packed lunches and will do them later. Just need to bath the kids this evening!

I have had a small payment from Quidco so £5 sent over to overdraft, only £55 to find then will be in the £500s!

Need to book in the car for it's MOT, not due for a couple of weeks but need to get in my diary before the appointments start adding up.

Not expecting much more today, busy day tomorrow then a whole day catching up in the office on Thursday.

    September goal: £210/£5

  • Back to school and back to work with an overbearing new boss who doesn't listen, hope she calms down a bit over the next few weeks I hate being watched when I do my job perfectly well.

This is the stage of the month where things are a bit slow, trying to watch the pennies as car is booked in for MOT on Friday and payday still 2 weeks away.

Cheque has cleared from Mum so deposit sent over for porch door and the rest moved out of the way to savings account to make sure it's there ready for payment.

Not much else going on, dd has just come back from blackberry picking with a friend, they collect loads from just round the corner half for for us this time and half will go to her friends mum as she took them but dd will show me where they are. They look amazing!

I need to be really boring and do some paperwork today and tomorrow out for a 10 mile run with dh and friends!

Back luck with the boss chrysallis. I hope they see the error of their ways soon. There is nothing worse than someone looking over your shoulder all the time.

10 miles....phew just reading it leaves me exhausted.

  • Hi Chrysalis,

I've just caught up with your diary :)

I agree, good luck with the new boss - it's horrible when you have to work with someone like that !

    Enjoy the blackberries :D
