So i have a company car which i overstayed in a car park which takes photos on enetry and exit. So we know it was an overstay. 45 quid charge which has been paid by my employer. They emailed and wrote to me to ask if they can deduct it from my wages. I werent up for that cos if it were my car i doubt id be paying anyway. Can work ask me for it? Ive taken zero ation yet. And theyve asked me again if tbey can take it this month.

Well, to answer your original post above, taking into account that you have just written "Again youve missed the point. No deductions have occurred. And they wont without my say so.", I deduce the following.

    1. You don't want to know if they can deduct it directly from salary as I answered that in my previous post.

    2. You enquire if they can ask you for it. Given that your next sentence actually says that they have asked you for it, then the answer must be "Yes"

    3. If you really want to know if they have the right to do so, then, as others have said before me, that depends upon your contract of employment.

Is there anything that you actually need further to help you with your forum question?

I have to say that this forum is one of the most helpful I have read over the months, and other newbies have testified to that. It is not the fault of people trying to help you if you are not clear about your requirements or choose to spurn their advice. They offered it freely, yet you then said that you had contrary advice from an unspecified source. You are free to follow that advice. There is no reason that I can see from a purely objective view to you concluding that this forum "Could do better".

If you are left in any doubt as to where you stand, then there are commercial organisations called Solicitors who can advise, for a fee. My suggestion, which I know you will ignore, is to go there or to any trade union that you may belong to.

And in conclusion, from your chosen name on here, you are displaying the credentials to be the commander in chief.

Interesting that people are assuming that "goon" is a reference to Arsenal FC. The dictionary definition of "goon" is somewhat different. ;)
    goon
    noun
    1. Informal.
    a hired hoodlum or thug.

    2. Slang.
    a. a stupid, foolish, or awkward person.
    b. a roughneck.

    Origin:
1920–25; shortened from dial. gooney, variant of obsolete gony a simpleton (< ?); influenced by the comic-strip character Alice the Goon in the series Thimble Theatre by E. C. Segar (1894–1938), American cartoonist

First two points bang on, in so far as can they should be implied as;they have but are they allowed to? The answer has been given repeatedly is "its in your contract". Really? Is it? Everyones seen it in my contract but me. The info what i have tells me that they can take it after due legal processes. They cant just take it from me. They seem to know that as theyve asked, ive ignored and nothing happen-yet. The ex lawyer chap hinted they could take me to court for it. This is how i understand it to be. SO EVERYONE STOP TELLING ME IT IS IN ME CONTRACT.Cos t'aint. Also the debate on fines or invoices isnt the issue. At all. My company paid it without hesitation so if anyone wants to fleece em feel free. Nice little earner. But dont argue with me about it. Cos i dont care. Never sed i did. And more importantly it'll make fudge all difference. Cos didnt pay it. I didnt agree to it.
So in answer to your question do i need any more help; no, and more is a loose term. I recieved opinons but not what id deem help. Mainly cos it werent helpful. Simple really.
And from my point of veiw with regard to alot of my posts on here that this is not a useful forum hence my sig. Im am after and used to recieveing facts and assistance from experienced people. Albeit on matter to do with cars which probbably is a much more "black and white" subject matter. Maybe i expect to much but with hindsight my thread should have ended with: if you know feel free to answer, if you want to debate parking fines do it else where, if you think its in me contract but dont know this for a fact, this is not the thread for you.hindsight, if you could bottle it.....
And with regard to legal advice in return for cash. This is finacially unviable as its gonna be more than the cost of the fee just to discuss. So not ignored, more breifly considered and dissmissed out of hand. Comander in cheif? Im the whole army. Cant you read?

Surely the time has come for the very helpful people on here to let the OP have the last word, which he certainly will want to have, and let this thread die? I can't see the point of wasting time with this any further. No doubt I'll now come in for some stick from the OP for being rude and unhelpful!

    Best wishes

No stick from me. Rude-nope, unhelpful-not helpful in relation to the OP but i think we are well past that now. Helpful as in i share the same sentiment-quite probbably.
    Good luck to you too.
  • Some good answers however I see it a little more simply. Your employer has paid out some would argue unnecessarily, they run a business with a rep to keep. They blame you. Fighting it will be fighting your employer who may informally hold it against you. In times of recession you cant afford any slip ups, so pay up and abide by the none enforceable car park rules these sharks manage. I mean if you was on business youd usually be able to claim car park fees back in future. If it was your own car it would be a different story trust me.
The harder one works the luckier one gets!

Your correct. The expenses system we have is fair and quick. They repay the fees without quibble. The fee came from overstaying. And yep if it were my car id just ignore it.

Nah just a troll who can't articulate a reasoned response in line with the theme of the site, I.e. saving money.
