Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

In July 2010 we were delayed 12hrs going to Zante due to a 'technical problem'. I wrote to the airline asking for compensation but they said that all cases were on hold while a definitive ruling was made for delayed flights. Was just wondering if there had been any progress in this ruling and whether i can resume my claim for compensation?0

Can someone give me some advice please, i have read through some of this and i'm unsure as to what our situation is.
We went on a cruise to the Caribbean from East Midlands airport and where "delayed" 25 hours on return to the UK. We have the letter from Thomson stating the aircraft suffered a technical fault and an alternative flight was sourced to bring us home. But in my opinion it was cancelled. The plane did fly after a short delay but only for passengers in the first 23 rows as one of the slides wasn't working so they couldn't take everyone. We where put up in a hotel all inclusive ( was terrible but that's a different story ) and eventually left 25 hours later on a different plane/flight that had been rerouted on it's way home from the Dominican Republic to Birmingham, they then transfered us to East Midlands by coach, more delay !
Does this mean we can claim for a cancelled flight, if so how and where would we do this.
Or is it a delay and mixed up in this court case verdict ?
Also do i claim my £60 from my insurance company regardless of the outcome of the above ?
Thanks.0 -
What was the flight number that you were booked to fly on?
What was the flight number that you actually did fly on?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Might have been Article 4 Denied boarding http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:32004R0261:EN:HTMLPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Yes it refers to Article 7.
So i write to the airline with one of the pre made cancelled flight letters and see what happens ? I presume it's the airline and not p&o i need to claim from even thou we booked with p&o ?
I claim per person not per holiday ?
And do i still claim on my holiday insurance or only if i dont get joy from the airline ?
Thanks, this is a minefield !0 -

Slightly off topic, but related to an extent.
We have received an advisory from Ryanair that our booked and paid for flights from UK to France in July which were to depart at 07:00 will now depart at 11:30, 4.5 hours later. The email gives access to a refund page on the website. Presumably because of the extent of the delay we are entilted to FULL refund including all the absurd admin charges?
If so it will be beneficial to us since we wanted to change our date anyway!
Can anyone confirm that this correct?
