hubby just rang Virgin, and when they had to re-write the letter for our insurance to say when our flight actually returned (as the first letter they sent was wrong and missing information) they put our claim to the bottom of the pile - and could not guarentee returning it to it's rightful place?!?!
!!!!!! is this company on?!?!0 -
Hi!
My husband and I were delayed in New York before Xmas due to the snow closing Heathrow.
Due to fly back with Virgin Atlantic whose only help was to rebook our flight home for 3 days later.
We had to book ourselves into a hotel for 3 extra nights, pay for food and drinks etc.
Sent off a claim to Virgin first week of Jan, only had an automated acknowledgement from them and not heard a jot since
Anyone else in the same boat?:(

Many thanks, we know we are definitely due cost reimbursement, it is just the length of time we are having to wait and the idiots at Virgin who have been hired to deal with it all0 -

We required Virgin to send us a letter to claim the 20 pounds per day compensation due to us from the insurance company we had travel insurance with.
The complaints officer at Virgin told my husband that when Virgin wrote the letter they returned the rest of our claim to the bottom of the in-pile, effectively setting it back another 8 weeks0 -
Hello all
Looking for some advice in relation to a cancelled flight. On Monday I was due to fly to Norrkoping in Sweden with SAS, transferring at Copenhagen. 30 mins before the flight was due to leave (I was in Heathrow terminal 3 departures with a boarding card) the flight was cancelled. After queing for several hours, I was placed on a 15:30 flight to Stockholm, where I then had to catch a train to Norrkoping.
I took the Stockholm flight tand rain option, as SAS couldn't get to my destination the same day if wanted to go direct to Norrkoping.
So I guess I have a number of questions:
1) Am I correct in thinking that I can claim compensation for my cancelled flight?
2) If so, when looking at the level of compensation, do I use the distance to my final destination, or to my transfer point
3) How do I go about claim this compensation, and under which part of the regulation is it due?
4) Does the "Sturgeon" judgement above effect my ability to make a claim?
Thanks in advance for any assistance and information.
Kind Regards

1) Ask SAS formally for the reason for the cancellation, then assess if the circumstances are ordinary.
2) Compare the distances, they might fall into the same compensation bracket http://www.flightmole.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1113
3) Probably article 5 and article 7 of http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:32004R0261:EN:HTML
4) If the flight was cancelled, it may not have an affect.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Thanks RichardW - a read of the regulation was certainly useful.
Could you possibly please clarify your point 4? Not entirely sure I understand what you mean.
In relation to the cancellation, not sure what the circumstances were, but will check with SAS.

If your flight was cancelled and not delayed for three hours or more then the Sturgeon 'stay' may not apply because it refers to delays.
Correspond with SAS via e mail or paper letter, it is important to have a record from now on, when you have their details of the circumstances come back to this thread if you need further assistance.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
