  • Those predicting huge increases in airline fares as a result of compensation awards (see above posts) need to go back to their A level Economics classes and learn about price setting. Airlines merely need to run better businesses and it looks like some already are..

In a word yes, for rerg 261/2004. Your flight was cancelled at short notice (< 7days) and not due to extraordinary circumstances.

Just wanted to say thank you; contacted Air France on Saturday evening using the MSE template for cancellations and received an email this morning offering my husband and I €600 each or €800 credit towards a flight with AF/KLM/Delta.

    Took the cash obviously. :j

Clearly Bryan doesn't have the first clue.....
Ryanair have been charging a reg 261/2004 "fee" for years, yet they still don't payout....

Excellent - KLM/Air France are proving to be a better payer

Can anyone help determine whether I am entitled to both a refund and compensation or just compensation?
My flight was cancelled a few hours before I was due to fly so I only found out when I got to the airport. It was due to crew problems so never left Chicago. I was sorted out with an alternative but this left Manchester the following day and I arrived at my destination over 24 hours late. Does this mean I can claim both?
    Thanks

No, only the compensation, as you still got to your destination, albeit 24 hrs late.
Did they put you up in hotel/provide meals?
If not and you paid, then you can get costs reimburesed (with receipts)

4 weeks before flying I booked a holiday through Monarch, the flight was then confirmed as being Small Planet Airlines. The flight was rescheduled from a 09:35 departure to a 13:35 departure, 3 times. The third time was less than 24 hours prior to departure. The flight was boarded at the right time, but then sat on the runway for 2 hours. The return flight was also rescheduled in the same way, but no delay on the day. Can I claim for 6 hours going out and 4 coming back or only for the delay on the runway. I am unable to trace the flight on FlightStats.com, possibly because it is chartered. So unsure of the real reason for the delay, and it appears to be a regular occurrence with Small Planet. The flight was 12 June 2015 - LGW (London Gatwick) to JSI (Skiathos) Small Planet Airlines Flight S5551 Outbound and S5552 Inbound.
