Start by reading Vaubans guide, but could you confirm a Jet2 flight from New York wasn't aware they flew Atlantic back in 2012!
If it's all correct the airline will say that was an unexpected flight safety issue....but could well be a claim
Cheers,

Been going through the motions with Delta for delayed flights in 2010. They kept asking for more details, when we sent a copy of a boarding card as per their last request (luckily saved as a bookmark...), they paid up straight away (6x 600 Euro). Some of the requested info such as eticket numbers we didn't have initially, but agent we went through still had them and resent to us. It wasn't as much of a fight as we were expecting. Hope this encourages others to stick at it. Bri0

Have just heard from EasyJet that they are going to give me 250 Euro compensation for my delayed flight (5 hours from Amsterdam in 2012). They completely ignored my last email (sent after taking advice from this forum), I tried the Dutch ombudsman but they only consider claims that are up to a year old so yesterday I emailed EasyJet again saying I was going to take legal action and they have now agreed to compensate me. Thanks for the help and advice and good luck to anyone else making claims - stick at it!

No redjamie - you are far too late. Six years to raise a court claim, otherwise the right to bring an action falls away.0 -
If the claimant is correct you may wish to consider booking with BA however if BA are correct you may wish to consider booking with Monarch .....

THis is my second post this morning cos I reckon I'm on a Roll thanks to Martin and the MSE Way of Life !!!!
So already posted about my success with Bank Account PPI reclaim so now its time to share the FLight Delay Claim experience... Here goes !!
Family Holiday back in August 2013 to Sharm El Sheikh was second time in Sharm and everybody loved it. Wife and the Boys hada great time, Dad had a great time ........ till we arrived back at Sharm Airport for the FLight back to Blighty. !!
We heard murmurings of delayed flights back at the hotel before we left but because we had booked flights and hotels as a separate entitiy we never received any confirmation of a delay from Monarch till we arrived at the airport !!!
It transpired that the plane hadnt even departed Manchester when we arrived 3 hours before the FLight was due to depart SHarm. Info was sparse at first with everybody left wondering what was going on. The Ground staff did their best to update us and after about an hour it was clear we were off to another Hotel for the Night with Meals etc on Monarch !!!
THe communicated delay was we would be back for the FLight the NEXT DAY 23 hours delayed as the Crew would be out of FLying Hours to turn the plane round when it eventually landed in Sharm.
The reason given for the delay was the usual Technical Fault out of their control etc. etc.
Striaght on the Website when we got back I got the Claim Wheels in motion using the Template from MSE combined with the Monarch Form that was also required. CLaim submitted September 2013..........Reply November 2013..... RESULT - Computer says No !!!!! Usual reply I believe they try to wriggle out of it with most peoples cases.
Stupidly I accepted this due to reading about very low success rates from Monarch on this and other Forums !!
4th Quarter 2014 after reading about more and more Court Cases and more and more success for claimants , and on the back of my Bank PPI success at end of 2014 I thought........Sod it and put the exact same claim in again with them but just changed the dates on the Letter and Claim in Jan 2015......... BOOM ..........March 2015 came home from work one night to find a cheques for £1350 waiting for me from the guys at Monarch........ mmmm maybe they were feeling generous or maybe they really were at fault !!!!
Thanks MSE thanks to you my Holiday Hotel this year has now been paid by Monarch and my FLights also payed by Barclays !!!

In 2007 i suffered a flight delay of 4hours on a Leeds Bradford to Palma Majorca flight, the departure was transferred to Newcastle Airport. despite my giving Jet2 full details of my claim , it has been rejected stating Section 9 Limitations Act 1980.
Surely Jet2 had a Duty Of Care in offering compensation at the time of the delay under EC261/2004 rule
Is there any course of action that i can take
Thank You0 -

Sorry but you absolutely have zero chance of a successful claim.
The rules are simple you must start legal action within 6 years. You're out of time.
Sorry

I claimed compensation from thomas Cook for a delay of 9 hours on a flight from Santorini - Manchester in Aug 2010 I used the link on money saving expert site. The only proof I had was my holiday confirmation email which I uploaded. My initial claim was sent in November 2014 and end of Feb I recieved an email advising that my claim had been successful, mid March I recieved an email with a holiday voucher for £620 (£320 each). I didn't want a holiday voucher so I sent an email requesting a cheque but did not receive a reply or a acknowledgement email so after another email and waiting 2 weeks I phoned them and eventually got through to a very nice adviser who informed me that they are unable to send cheques but he could pay the money into my bank account, so a fortnight later I have just recieved the money! Brilliant thank-you Martin for the advise and making it so easy.0
