Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Does anyone know if there is a limit on claiming compensation for delays?
We were delayed for 7 hours last september from Manchester to Tenerife flying with Thomas Cook. I wasn't aware that we could claim compensation, we were given a letter by the airline advising us to contact our travel insurance but the policy we had didn't really make it worth it. The airline gave us one £5 voucher each at the two hour mark, then announced the flight would be delayed another 5 hours. We should have got to tenerife around 10pm but didn't arrive until about 7am.
I've still got the luggage tag so I have the flight info!0 -
What was the reason for delay?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I think we were just told that it had been delayed coming back from Tenerife.0

Hello
My scenario is I was due to fly out Tuesday with BA from Heathrow
I booked non-refundable non-transferable tickets.
If I cancel can I get refund? (I think I know answer)
If BA cancel do I get a full refund or tansfer?
I appreciate anyone's help0 -
We were on this flight which finally took off approx 1600 on the 3rd. We had booked premium seats. At check in on the Fri we were told the aircraft had been downgraded and would no longer fly direct. I asked was there still a premium service which was answered in the affirmative. On getting on the aircraft, there was no premium seats on board and then told to claim a refund from Our booking company (Olympic Holidays).
Who do I claim against, Olympic, Monarch or Barclaycard? What do I claim for, delay, refund for no premium service, Compensation?
Any help/advice etc would be most appreciated.
With hindsight would I have been able to cancel after all the delays, change of service with a full refund on the Friday?
Thanks0 -

If you cancel it's unlikely you will get anything back apart from tax
If BA cancel then you should get either a transfer or a full refund.0 -
Only just found this thread so apologies if this has been asked before..... A relative has booked to come to the UK for Christmas & New Year. Independent traveller i.e. not as a package but paid for everything in advance by credit card (but no insurance). Due to the weather conditions:
1. Are the airline obliged to offer another flight and/or refund/offer credit for the ticket price?
2. If our weather here is still bad, do they need to check in at the departure airport?
Any/all advice VERY much appreciated! Thanks!!Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

1 yes - as long as the booked flight is cancelled or badly delayed. If it runs you would be expected to be on it.
2 Ask the airline. It depends on what the flight is expected to do.0 -

What was the reason given for the delay and the change of aeroplane?
Anyway, you had a right to appropriate care during the time when you were waiting to travel during the delay. Furthermore, unless the delay was caused by "extraordinary circumstances" you have a right to compensation for the lost time, probably 600 Euro per passenger. Additionally, you have a right to compensation for not receiving the premium service for which you paid.0
