Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Hi all
Please can someone help me with the following.
My Uncle and Aunty flew from Heathrow Airport on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to Islamabad, Pakistan a few weeks ago
They paid £2350 for first class seats for the two of them. The reason being there was no economy class seats available on this particular day and this was the only flight which was direct to Islamabad. No other Airline flies direct to Pakistan from Heathrow Airport. All other flights were indirect. My Uncle and Aunty are old age, so prefer to go direct.
Anyway the flight left on time, and without any announcement made, a sudden stop in Paris, France, to pick up further passengers. They were in Paris for approximately 4 and a half hours.
So when the flight eventually landed in Islamabad, Pakistan, it was 5 hours late.
The flight which was supposed to take a total of 7 and a half hours direct to Islamabad, took a total of 12 and a half hours.
What I need to know is that are they entitled to any compensation?
If so, what is the procedure? Should they contact the Airline first?
All help is really appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

Direct doesn't mean non stop in the airline business.
Are you sure they booked a non stop flight?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Yes definitely non stop.0

Hi,
I'm not sure whether I have a claim or not here, so I'd appreciate some feedback?
Our return flight from JFK Intl. Airport in New York to London Heathrow was originally scheduled for 8pm on the 22/03/2010, but I received an email from Expedia 3 days before the flight to say that it had been rescheduled to a later flight at 11:50pm on the same day.
My feeling is that our flight was supposed to arrive in LHR at 7.10am, but instead we arrived at 11.15am, which would be a 4 hour 5 minute delay.
I understand this would be fine and reasonably straight forward if our original flight was delayed by 4+ hours, but technically it was cancelled, due to the BA strikes.
What do you guys think?
Many thanks,

good2talk.
This is a bit of a long shot as you have not given any details but have a look at this link. It could be related.

Strikes are mentioned in the EU regs as extraordinary circumstances - which means no compensation.0
-
But is it the airline's own strike, within the airline's control?
Pass
But the wording is
which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken
Not 'within the airline's control'
So is caving into strikers a reasonable measure? (Not expecting an answer....)

Hi,
I am trying to find out an old flight number for my flight on the 7th August 2009 Manchester to Dalaman via Bodrum which was delayed by about 8 hours and a change of plane at the end, I have no booking reference or emails saved. I cant find any information anywhere.
If someone could help or point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.
Thanks0 -
Well flight stats showing only one flight MAN to DLM namely LS921 which is a Jet2 flight however I presume you previously checked this. If you think this is your flight you should really be posting on the Jet2 thread if you have any queries not already answered on that thread however your via Bodrum comment may indicate you booked that route so again look on flight stats to check.0
