But no, I wasn't 'reading something into the Reg that simply doesn't exist', rather the opposite in fact - I was failing to read something that did exist, only in a different Article. Thanks again for your help; I shall proceed with my compensation claim without the hotel bill.
The purpose of this forum is exactly this, lets tie up the minute details and get the maximum possible0 -
Open & Shut case for Compensation?
My Family & I were booked onto the 14:50 flight from Luton to Bodrum. (4th June 2013)
We eventually took off at 23:15 from GATWICK!
Still away at the moment so will fill out the form that Monarch have emailed me when I get back.
The only info I have heard at the moment of the cause is because the flight from Faro to Luton that morning had a technical fault which had the knock effect of our delay.
They can't refuse this one, surely? (The flight was 2723Km and there were 4 of us, 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant).
Anyone know likely payout if they cough up?
TIA0 -

Best to ask your questions on the Monarch forum when you return. Getting money out of them is never easy (whatever the circumstances) so you are probably going to have to fight for it. In the meantime enjoy your break and come back refreshed and ready to do battle0 -

In my opinion you do have grounds for a claim.
Don't,give up.
I am thinking some of the airlines are beginning to get the message that if you pursue a genuine claim they will eventually have to cave in.0 -
What has given me much optimism is that I was given a letter by Monarch (on branded paper) themselves just before we finally boarded listing what we were entitled to claim for under EC261/2004.
It even states 'Compensation will be paid within 7 days by electronic bank transfer'?!
Do people normally get given this?0 -

I had 3 of these given at different stages during my delay without the 'paid within 7 days' aspect and unfortunately still had to go to Court. In Court the Monarch Barrister argued that the 14 day payment suggested by the Judge was just not practical and reluctantly the Judge extended to 21 days - 18 days to go!0 -

:rotfl:lol just the letter. If they want to try everything to get out of paying it seems odd to give these out?0 -
Seems to me by the number of successfull posts that the the airlines bluff are coming home to roost and they are starting to see sense.0

Indeed, thanks to those like many on here who refuse to be subject to the delaying tactics and flannel from airlines. I need to do my research on here and get a claim in, having been worn down after 5 or 6 fruitless exchanges on 2009 and 2010 re a 2009 delay.0
