I was bumped off a flight the other day, ended up going another route arriving one hour later and was compensated without any questions for 200 Euro, i think that is fair as that would be my normal charge per hour :-)0

Hi - does anyone know if a bird strike to an aircraft is classed as exceptional circumstances when making a claim for compensation. We were delayed for 21 hours because of a bird strike on the incoming aircraft, resulting in us being accommodated in the Premier Inn for the night and loosing a whole day of a five day break, including the first night paid for hotel at our stay. BA staff were terrible in handling the situation and no one accompanied the passengers to the Premier Inn and it was chaos - took well over an hour to check in and some very angry and verbally abusive passengers there as well, but no BA staff to help out!!0

Good news, I put in claim against British airways 2 weeks ago due to overbooking for a flight in 2010. Recieved a cheque today for the full amount of compensation allowed. All thanks to watching your programme0

Given the regularity .... http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=2008&pageid=11326 I would say bird strikes are quite ordinary!0

An ex UK long haul flight is ticketed A to C via a connection at B (same airline). Flight A to B is delayed leaving 3hrs 50 arriving at B 3hrs 10 late. Connection is caught and arrives at C on schedule. Is compensation payable in respect of flight A to B?0

I believe that EU261 works on the delay to arrival at the final destination
this is defined as -
‘final destination’ means the destination on the ticket
presented at the check-in counter or, in the case of directly
connecting flights, the destination of the last flight; alternative
connecting flights available shall not be taken into
account if the original planned arrival time is respected;
It sounds like you had no delay to your arrival at the final destination so it does not appear that compensation is due
I guess you were inconvenienced by hanging around in airport A for a period of time instead of a planned hanging around in airport B...but still got to airport C at the planned time0 -
Thanks for your reply Caz3121, that's pretty much what I thought might be the case. Your final para pretty much sums it up. 6+ hrs at airport A (Manchester) with, for the first time in years, no lounge access available to me. I did get a refreshments voucher for, I think it was £10, straight away on check in without asking, so that helped a little. I had booked and paid for lounge access at airport B so lost that.0

My apologies Centipede100. I had not seen it and for some reason received no alerts to it. I know you give your time unstintingly here and your advice and knowledge are excellent and much appreciated by many. As responses didn't seem to be forthcoming I thought a simpler version in a more heavily trafficked thread was the way forwards.
I admit I was looking for early feedback as I'm currently in correspondence with Etihad over some unrelated issues and was wanting to get loose ends tied off today whilst I had time available.
An amusing aside: I once wrote to Etihad about some guest status issues. They replied by email apologising for the unsettling occurrences and less than expected behaviour of the cabin crew. I found this somewhat confusing and most amusing as I had not mentioned anything about in-flight occurrences or cabin crew! Clearly they were replying to another passengers complaint.0 -
Hi, when we originally booked/paid for our flight last year, the departure flight was scheduled for 10:00. A few weeks prior to the flight we were notified that the flight time was now 13:55. Can we claim via this method ?
Thanks.0
