  • Hi
My flight from manchester to mallorca on 08/09/12 was delayed from 1640 to 2330 we got a free meal and nothing else eg refreshments.Unbeknown to me the airline was asking some people if they would like to take flights with other airline rather than waiting but never asked my wife and I.I have lost a night in my appartment, a day less on my car hire(for which i had to pay an excess for picking up my rented car out of hours). On top of that we were never even offered a free drink on the plane. We were told that the plane we were supposed to travel on had been diverted to pick up people at Sharma el Shiekh.I have also found out that Monarch new this at 0500 of that day.I rang up and complained at the time and was basically just fobbed off.Do you guys think it is worth a letter for flight delay compensation.

    Cheers Guys

Looks like the experts are off line at the moment.
However I am sure they will agree that you should make a claim for delay.

I suggest you look at and maybe adapt a template letter written by Centipede 100. There is a link to it on the previous page posted by Blindman.
Monarch's address is also on there.

    Good Luck!
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

Had a reply to my claim from Jet2 for 5.5 hr delay Feb 2011. Arrived on the day 2 weeks notice were to expire.
Letter requested names of passengers, flight number, date of travel, booking reference and copy of booking confirmation. Strange as my original letters x2 had all of that information clearly labelled at the top. Except I had sent booking confirmation. I simply took it off Jet2 passenger account system, why couldn't they? And if I have a booking reference, why would I need a confirmation, since one is generated with the other?.
Clearly a delaying tactic. In my reply, repeating all the information, I complained about their procrastination and hoped they had better success reading and understanding my claim letter a third time round. I gave them 10 days to reply in the letter before Action.
Hopefully they will be as incompetent at reacting to Small Claims summons....

  • Update of situation re court action XXXX v iberia airlines for december 2010, postings 2016 page 103 & 2187 page110.
Court papers N1 issued to CCMCC Northampton county court on 3/11/2012. Notice of issue dated 8/11/2012, deemed served on 13/11/2012, defendent has until 27/11/to respond. Acknowledgement of service received on 24/11/2012, from Solicitors, who are to defend the case, This means they have until the 11/12/2012 to submit a defence (24+5 days from the 8th). The following points have been observed, using a large solicitor in London City, incomplete address on the Acknowledgement form issued. and a name change from Iberia whose London Registered office I issued proceddings too. The name change is Iberia Lineas de espana S.A. Operadora, With all correspondence to be issued to Solicitors address. Luckily I have it on the facing letter, but how unprofessional. The Name change is part of the adress in Spain I had been attempting to communicate with for many months since my first official claim lodged on 6/1/2011.

So it will be interesing to see what defence they submit,re my claim. So the battle lines are drawn and I shall comile my three case files for a hearing some time in the Future at Court, but how long the court hearing Quee will be ? But at least they are having to actually now answer the correspondence in court and the specific questions that I had raised and got no answers. I will update this forum of the progress.
  • Hi, does anyone have any idea how to contact Skywings? We were delayed on our flight from Skiathos to LGW for 8 hours due to a fault with the plane door. We were abandoned in the airport overnight with no means of food or drink (although that was the fault of Olympic). I have emailed Skywings (It's a Greek email address) but have had no reply. I don't even know whether the recipient is able to read English!! I can't seem to find any address/email for a UK based person.....any ideas????
    Thanks in advance

Thank you for the continuing update.
Just a small correction if anyone is following your links, post #2016 is on page 101, not 103.

I wish these reps would put this sort of nonsense in writing!

Have you had a look at the MCOL?
I believe that the paperwork has to be filled in online, individually, so a template wouldn't be much use if it can't be filled in, then copied and pasted.
