  • Hi
I was due to fly back from Newcastle on 19.06.22 but 9 hrs before the flight was cancelled. I was rebooked for 22.06.2022, but this was subsequently cancelled and I rebooked again for 24.06.22.

I will try to claim compensation but does anyone know if the two cancellation for the same flight would qualify as two separate amounts or one?

    Thank you
    Andrew

It looks like 2 claims may be payable, sounds like an airline to be avoided! I would have chosen to look for an alternative flight rather than wait 5 days but you should be able to claim compensation, hotel and food costs. The only reason compensation would not be due is if the cancellation was due to circumstances beyond the airline's control, Easyjet, for example, appears to be suffering far more ATC delays than anyone else and using that as a reason to try and avoid paying

    HI all,

Was due to travel back from Malaga on 20/06 at 00.05 on Easyjet flight number EZY8616. When i arrived at the airport i was informed the flight was cancelled a few days earlier and all passengers had received an email.

I had not received an email, only one two days before from Easyjet to say there may not be food/drinks on the flight. They told me that because i had booked via Onthebeach they had sent the cancellation notice to Onthebeach (who did not pass it on to me). They booked me onto a flight the following day so all good in that respect and told me i could claim back the expenses for hotel/travel etc which i've done on their website.

Just wondering if i would also be eligible for compensation, reasons why i'm not sure is,

    1. If they did inform Onthebeach a few days earlier and it wasn't passed onto me, perhaps they could have got me onto a different flight around the same time as the original one, meaning no case for compensation as i would have arrived at a similar time.

    2. I don't know the reason for cancellation, is there any way to find out?

I have contacted Onthebeach but not had a response so far.

    Thanks
  • Thanks Alan, I am visiting family for the first time since COVID so I was able to stay with them and I could work remotely so its not bad.
I will try to claim two rounds of compensation

    Regards
    Andrew

We are currently delayed by about 4.5hrs at Gran Canaria airport on our return flight to Bristol (2800km). Flight departs in a few hours. Going to do a UK621 claim when we get home; however I hear Jet2 usually (sharkily) dispute it as extraordinary and related to covid. I guess that’s not a valid excuse anymore? (Being pre-emptive of their refusal). Their text message to all passengers says it’s due to “late arrival of inbound aircraft”
  • After I had my flight cancelled I was thinking to look for an alternative as I had holiday off work booked, airbnb paid.....  unfortunately it was too expensive, so I gave up. Just out of curiosity I looked the day that I was supposed to get back and even my return flight was cancelled, so good that I did not book another way
  • Hi all,

We were on a flight that boarded, was delayed by more than 3hrs, then was cancelled by BA due to technical fault.
The next available BA flight was not for 3 days. We went online and got a refund of the flight, and rebooked on easyJet for the next day.

-can I claim UK621 compensation from BA in addition to the refund?
-can I claim additional expenses like extra parking, food that was caused by the disruption?
-can I claim 1 night lost airbnb, car hire etc?

    Thank you.

If this issue was within their control rather than extraordinary circumstances, yes.

Probably not parking, but they should reimburse subsistence costs during the delay, up to the point at which you claimed the refund.

Not from the airline, but your travel insurance may cover those?

I'm not quite sure where we stand with this one as there's lots to be found on delays but not much on diversion.

Flew home from Milan with BA flying to London City. 2 hour ground delay (not BA fault - they said it was due to staff shortage at Milan). Due to this we missed the curfew for London City and had to divert to Stansted. They would have known leaving Milan we were never going to make it into Stansted (there was not enough time to complete the flight when we pushed back) but decided not to tell us until we had landed at Stansted that we were diverting. Essentially chucked us off the flight and told everyone to make their own way home and claim it back, in the middle of a train strike!

So we never actually arrived at City. Seeing as we were still at Stansted 3 hours after we should have landed at City I'm not sure if this counts or even if we could claim compensation as it was a diversion. I know we can claim for any expenses such as taxi but for the not actually landing at City itself?

would really appreciate the help with this as to whether we can claim compensation for two missed flights or one?:

     - Our flight was due to leave Zante Sunday lunchtime, we spent the day at the airport, numerous delays and were told in the evening that the crew were out of hours and as the flight did not have a crew it couldn't take off.
    - Shipped to a hotel overnight
    - Few hours sleep and shipped back to the airport on Monday morning.  Flight delayed but we finally boarded. Sat on the plane for 3 hours. Captain then said we had missed our slot by 30 seconds and were waiting for another flight time, then there was a problem with one of the engines, captain eventually asked us to disembark due to the excessive heat.
    - Taken to another hotel until the evening, shipped back to airport to finally board the third flight at 10.30pm, arrived back in the UK just after midnight (UK time) today (Tuesday).
So in our case we had not one but two flights 'delayed', in reality they were both cancelled. Flight delay time 33.5 hours, travel time door to door 43.5 hours with a few hours sleep in a hotel.  I don't know where to start with compensation but I am assuming that as they did finally get us home we can only claim £350 for such a massive delay.  I presume we cant also claim for a refund for the tickets?  We've both had to take two days annual leave but we're not self employed so I'm guessing we cant do anything about that either.    Any advice on where to start with a claim and what to ask for would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you
