Speed Cameras

Going along a dual carriage way around 65mph and seen a police van which most likely had a camera in the back so quickly reduced my speed hopefully it was enough.
Is the national speed limit still 60 and if you receive a ticket is it points/fine. Hopefully if I was just over 60mph I won't receive a ticket.
Thanks,
Garcon.
Sorry but if you are in control of a 1 tonne vehicle then you should need to know these things before you start driving.
There are too many deaths and injuries on the roads caused by cars going too fast which could have been prevented by cars slowing down to what they should be driving at.0 -

They've spent 20 years driving under the limit, not over it.0 -

That is beside the point.
The OP did not know what the speed limit was, so depending on the road type they could have been speeding.0 -

He thought nationals were 60 so if he was in a car how could he be speeding on any road with the national speed limit?0 -

Indeed. Ideally the police should book him for driving without due care and attention."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. This is about not even being aware what the limit is, which is an issue in its own right. If the OP can't even figure out the correct speed limit, what else has he missed? This is about the level of basic awareness that should be expected of any driver."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. But why would the Police even pull him for doing 65 in a 70?
Plenty of people driver under the national speed limit to conserve fuel.
Do you even read what you type?0 -

Yep, as I do a fair few miles at my own expense, I sit at speeds that give me the best fuel consumption, usually at 60-65 mph.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

But that is the whole point - the OP seemingly/admittedly hadn't a clue as to what the limit was - he braked down from 65 to 60 needlessly as far as I can make out. Solely because he saw a police vehicle.
Of course anyone can drive at less than the limit in force on the road they are on - but to be unaware of what the limit is ........0
