was in asda today and saw packets of hobnobs with chocolate on the top selling for £1.25, 16 in a packet, certainly encouragement to make your own
  • Wow, there's a whole thread for twinks hobnobs.

I tried these a couple of weeks ago and have made 2 batches. I actually preferred the batch from stork instead of butter but after reading some of this thread, realise it might be due to overheating the butter. Will just need to make another batch tonight, only for curiousity you understand :D
Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!
  • my first batch is in the oven as I type...

    I'm very excited...

but I didn't have any bicarb so we'll have to see what happens...

    back in a few minutes!

OH has just come in from 'foraging' around our shopping centre. McVitie's half chocolate-covered hobnobs in HomeBargains for 59p!!! These are the ones in the tall cardboard container - don't know how many in the tub - will let you know when we've eaten them all, lol :rotfl: :rotfl:

that is a bargain then Ollie, we dont have that shop here

Novice i have made the hobnobs without bicarb too, forgot all about it, it must be there for a reason though
Mooky must say i quite like using stork too although my dd uses butter
  • I made 34 out of my mix.

    I've eaten 5 already!

No more or I won't eat my dinner.

Twink do they taste or look different with/without bicarb, seeing as you've made them both ways?

I think HomeBargains is North West/Midlands based - sorry if we seem to be hogging them :(. Brilliant everyday of the week - never know what you'll find in them - but absolutely fabulous just before Christmas :). Much of the stuff is discontinued 'end-of-line' (but not near sell-by date) stuff at rock bottom prices though on the foodstuff, it does tend to be there on a regular basis.

    This is their website:

  • well this evening i made twinks's hobnobs.. and they came out a treat..

i couldnt get over how easy and simple they were to make!!!

i ran out of room on my baking tray for the biscuits so i put the rest of the mixture in a sandwich tin and made flapjacks .. which ive just put choc fudge topping on..

my H is currently munching his way through them!!

thank you twinks for the recipe.. its brill and im glad that i can give my son a biscuit and know whats gone in it for a change!!
