    i wont let on churchmouse, aussielass is convinced they are anzacs by another name :D was going to use some almonds in the mix today but might throw in some coconut too, raining here so just the day for baking

    Well after hundreds of PM's begging me to post the recipe of Anzac's here it is. :D

    Anzac Biscuits
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]1 cup plain flour[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]1 cup rolled oats (regular oatmeal) uncooked[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]1 cup desiccated coconut[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]1 cup brown sugar[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]1/2 cup butter[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]2 tbsp golden syrup (or honey)[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]1 tsp bicarbonate of soda[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]2 tbsp boiling water[/FONT]
    [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Method[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Combine the flour, oats, coconut and sugar in a bowl.[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Melt the butter and Golden Syrup (or honey) in a saucepan over a low heat..[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Mix the bicarbonate of soda with the water and add to the butter and Golden Syrup.[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Pour the liquids into the dry ingredients and mix well.[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Spoon dollops of mixture, about the size of a walnut shell, onto a greased tin leaving as much space again between dollops to allow for spreading.[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Bake in a moderate oven, 180C / 350F, for 15-20 minutes.[/FONT]
    • [FONT=tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Cool on a wire rack and seal in airtight containers.[/FONT]

    remarkably similar aussielass, the book calls mine crunchies and they must be lower calorie without the coconut :p :rotfl: you can empty your pm box now then:D its a wonder you restrained yourself for so long :D

    Does anyone know how much 1/2 cup butter is in oz/g please?

    Going to have to try these Anzacs and do a comparison taste test now :D

    1 cup =8 oz
