We all know and love Twinks hobnobs (I tried them for the first time last week and had rave reviews).

What extra bits and bobs do you put in or have to tried that work/ don't work?

    I love Twinks too!
My last batch wasvery different because i found I only had 4oz flour. I made up the rest with pinhead oatmeal, sains cheapie instant hot choc (which i didn't like as a drink) - adding less sugar because of the sugar in it, and then added some flax seeds. I added about one third peanut butter to the butter ratio. They were crunchier and v fab. Next time i'm planning to add some grated carrot - has anyone tried this or do you think it would work?

    In various batches I've added:

nutella, choc chips (dark, milk and white), peanut butter, crushed biscuits, coconut chocolates, toffees, fudge pieces, banana, christmas spices, dried fruit, rolos, smarties, walnuts, dates, figs, marzipan and crystallised fruits.

Also subbed some of the oats for granola.

All worked fine :) Just added a handful or a blob of things like peantu butter; so no measurements.

Substituting the oats for shop-bought muesli was very successful as was swapping some of the fat for peanut butter or half of the oats for coconut. Nutella slightly less thrilling but it might have been the amount I used.

I see that some of our posters have been much more inventive and it's inspired me to get going with some new variations

I did batches of raisin and cinnamon, white choc chip and milk choc chip for a bake sale at work recently and they went down really well!

    Hi,

I tried twinks on Thursday for the first time, tasted yummy but made them a bit too thin I think (almost like brandysnaps - oops!).

Thanks for the recipe though, will make bigger balls of mixture next time.

Wondered if anyone had tried adding chopped nuts at all?

Think only turned out too thin as I tried to make them small enough to dip in my tea/coffe & wanted to give some to parents so tried to make them look quite uniform (very critical parents - everything nice when you first give them something then WHAM! couple of days later "nice BUT would have been better if...")

I KNOW, I KNOW, dipping is NOT the done thing, I don't care. I have VERY few vices, don't drink much, never smoked & have almost kicked the expensive shoe habit (only by not going near shoe shops on high street or online).
