I add one or two teaspoons of powder ginger0

I started to make some then realised what time it was, have to go and pick my daughter up from school (fin late tonight as they are rehearsing for a play).
So, I couldn't be bothered rushing around doing individual ones so have just pressed all of the mixture in a tray. I shall score the mixture when it comes out and have them as fingers.
Fingers it comes out ok.0 -

OMG!
If you already make Twink Hobnobs and love them as we do, have a go at making them this way, they are fantastic!
I used about 1½ tbs of syrup instead of one and they are soft like flapjacks.
They are quite filling so you only need small slices (yeh, right), I managed to get 29 from the tray. Yep, this is a lot less than when you do them as biscuits but they are more like a cake if you do them this way.0 -
Ohhhhh gonna give it a try tonight, the picture really inspired me!Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

WOW they look great :T Can I ask what size tin you used please? And was it the full 8oz of each recipe? I only use 4oz of each... until I get myself another baking tray.
I made choc chip twinks yesterday, the mixture wouldn't hold together with the chips in so I put them on top and pressed them in slightly... mmmmm lovelyOMG gonna put the kettle on, I've got a couple left in the tin
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0 -

I used the full 8oz recipe and the tray measures 35cm x 25cm and is 3cm deep.
I used 7½ oz of oats as I had the powdered dreggs of a packet of Kelloggs Bran Flakes that I didn't know what to do with which weighed ½ oz.
I may experiment and try using less oats and more bran flakes next time.0 -
Made the original recipe yesterday, but using molasses instead of golden syrup and adding a bit of ginger. Used marg as per recipe instead of oil in case they did taste too "oily".
I made the full quantity with 8oz of each ingredient but they spread and stuck to each other in the oven tray, so in the end they came like square flapjacks, lovely tasting but quite thick.
Next time I shall either make half the amount, or spread them over two oven trays so I can get the nice little rounds and flatten them a bit more. I managed to get 30 out of the recipe but they were quite large size, so I reckon that with half the amount (4 oz each ingredient) I might manage to get 18-20 smallish biscuits.

Wondering about using malt extract as an alternative to syrup/treacle/molasses. I think that might be quite yummy. DO you think it's sticky enough?"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I wondered about it, as I have some jars of malt bought ages ago when on special offer. I opted for molasses (black treacle actually, to be precise - it is the same thing I hope, no?) just because of the high iron content. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
