Oh I made these last night from a recipe in an old cookbook (Think it's called 500 Cakes Biscuits and Breads, and doesn't have any pictures).

I've made them for the last few years and everyone loves them, exact same recipe, is this where you got it from Twink? Think they're called oat crunches in the book, it's a great recipe book if its the same one, just no pics boohoo.
    Love em! :j

yes thats the book i have and i had made them for a long time too the recipe appealed to me as it was quick to make

well I made a savoury version of these hobnobs last night..... and they are really lovely but need to experiment a bit more. No curry paste or lazy garlic in the house at the mo so will be adding those next next time!

    What I did yesterday :
used same amount of oats, marge, sr flour and bicarb as original recipe
added a few handfuls of grated cheese
left out syrup and sugar altogether (oops)
added a few dollops of HP brown sauce
added a teaspoon of mustard powder
    added salt and pepper

Next time will def make them much thinner and smaller than normal hobnobs, .as they are a little crumbly.... can imagine these will go down a storm with drinks esp at Christmas

I bet some Moroccan spices and sesame seeds would be good too.... or finely chopped black olives or tapenade?

Yep not sure why that particular one jumps out as it's difficult to chose with no piccies.
Have you made the peanut butter cookies from the same book? Gorgeous with crunchy peanut butter!

The hobknobs are amazing but they disappear somehow! I made a batch last night for a party tonight but think I may have to make some more. I like the idea of the orange in them. I roll mine into a little ball then flatten them slightly and they come out really well. many thanks for sharing the recipe.

I've heard so much about these hobnobs from other posts & threads, I'm going to have to make some. For a sort of 'everyday biscuit' though that's all biscuits as far as I'm concerned, unfortunately for the waistline, I often make the Country Biscuits in the Cranks Cookbook. I've tried adapting them to try & produce a more hobnobby biscuit & have used all sorts of animal cutters when makinh for small nephews, but although I have enjoyed eating all the results, and partner often asks me to make them, I think it's going to be the addition of syrup and a lot more oats like in Twink's recipe which is going to make the real Hobnob texture. Really looking forward to making them.

always wary when people rave so much about something , am always afraid I'm going to be disappointed but twinks hobnobs are lovely ( lovely lovely lovely and double lovely ) so easy to make , darling daughter took one on her way out of the day and said these are really nice, I know hubby will really like them as well
the mixture makes so much and I've just read on here you can freeze them which is briliant
would highly recommend them to anyone and everyone

    Hi sunrise,

They are lovely aren't they and so easy to make! I've added your post to the main hobnob thread to keep the replies together.
