Have made these lovely biscuits many times as my kids absolutely love them. This morning tried making them for the first time in a big tray and cutting them up with a knife ...... this worked very well and saved a bit of time. Now would like to try and make a savoury version and was just wondering if anyone out there had a savoury recipe I could use to make these hobnos? Sorry but have not read entire thread (over a 1500 posts!) so may there's already a recipe but how would I go about adapting the oiginal recipe...... what can I use instead of syrup or sugar in a savoury version.0

I made these last night, but was unable to print the recipe off (printer not co-operating with pc) so clever clogs here thought I could remember ingredients, amounts etc.
Unfortunately I put 8oz of syrup in, a diabetics nightmare! They do taste lovely though.:rotfl:The more I see of men, the more I love dogs - Madame de Sevigne0 -

Hi livalot,
i've used Twinks hobnob biscuit recipe to make my biscuits to go with cheese.
I left out the syrup and added curry paste instead, replaced 4oz of marg. with lard and 1/2 the amount of sugar.
Hope this is of help.:j0 -
oh wow very good! I wouldn't have thought to make savoury and wouldn't have a clue how to mix this one up! Do let us know if you have any luck though!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Made some of Twink's hobnobs with milk chocolate drops today in my Remoska. Was very easy and delicious.0

What a great idea....would never of thought of using curry paste in a recipe like this.... love spicy food. Do you think I could leave out even more sugar (you mentioned using just half the amount)
or do you think you always need sugar for this sort of recipe?0 -

I seem to remember from domestic science that sugar is needed to help create the chemical reaction which occurs when baking......0 -
Hi livealot,
currypaste is a bit on the bitter side for me. I have a sweet tooth.0 -
I wonder if you could use LazyGarlic paste for savoury ones.it sounds possible I guess, but make very tiny ones to go with nibbly bits at Christmas instead of the perrenial twiglets or crisps0
