I never thought to add cinammon. Thank you. I will try that on the next batch.0 -
If you freeze these once made, what are they like once defrosted, are they soft?0

Made first batch on Friday. Am experienced cake/biscuit maker but never made anything quite like these......they are a bit scrummy, aren't they? The mixture made 32 big ones. Might do them slightly smaller next time, but there again, that'll just mean that I eat 4 at a time instead of two, so maybe I'll leave things as they are! Thanks for recipe. Much appreciated x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

My family cant get enough of these hobnobs, I end up making a batch every weekend now. I took some with me when I went to meet some friends recently, we are due to meet up again soon and I've been asked to bring them again, it's like everyone who tastes them gets addicted, I've got to go and get another one now before they all go againReal stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time.

I made these for the first time today.
I had some problems getting the mix to bind enough to roll into balls, so I rolled it into a large sausage, wrapped it in clingflim and chilled it for 3 minutes before slicing bits off to bake.
They spread out a fair bit when they're baking, crisp up lovely when they cool and impress everyone. I'll be making these again!0 -
Would it work if I used oil instead of melted marg and molasses instead of golden syrup? I keep meaning to try but wondered if anyone has tried these variations. Thanks. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

I dont see why the molasses/treacle wouldn't work... as that would add a nice different flavour profile to them...
But I think using oil, would make them taste, too oily, if you know what I mean0 -
I've just been to Morrisons (only to get the buy one get 2 free offers!) and spotted Ocean Spray dried cranberries on offer at only £1.19 for 170g - much cheaper than usual. I bought three bags because we love these in Twinks's hobnobs.
A few go a long way so a bag would last me around 4 bakes I reckon. An added bonus is that by mixing these in and still making the cookies the same size dough ball as usual, for each biscuit you're replacing some of the sugar with dried fruit - towards the 5 a day (maybe if you scoff as many as I do anyway;)).
I've done craberry and apricot before now, which are pretty impressive. I fancy cranberry and white choc chunks in gift bags nearer Christmas though.0
