No solution I'm afraid, although now that my boys are a little older they beat me to most of them ;)

AS for the bicarb, I think it maybe helps the crunchiness, like honeycomb, as it froths up when I put it in the marg and syrup.

Im wondering if mine worked out properly, i used olive oil spread instead of marge as we dont use marge in the house. Also when i mixed the bicarb in it didnt really mix it sort of all clumped together in about 5 lumps, maybe this was cos it went out of date in 2007 :embarasse, shows how often we do cooking in our house, especially as it was almost full.

I'm joining the 'Twink Club' :rotfl:

After yonks of threatening to make them (but being too scard to become addicted :o) I gave up on many failed attempts at flap jacks and have just made a batch of these. Oh. Wow.

This could become a problem :D

  • For a change I use 7oz oats and 1oz of dessicated coconut.
When rolling into balls I wet my hands first - then the mixture doesn't stick so much!

I came on here earlier looking for something to make for the schools baking event... well I found Twinks hob nobs and thought ohhhh I could make these... let me try now... so I used Ready brek :eek: ..... DISASTER!! looooool

I really dont know what the hell the oven produced so it went in the bin... but I wouldnt let that fail me... so I went to the shop and got some oats and now have started again... They are in the oven (fingers crossed) if they come out ok I will make some for the school :T

    Thanks Twink x
  • I have been making twinks hobnobs for a year or so and I have passed the recipe on and on!
I get about 1 and a half baking trays with 2tbsp syrup in the mix. (often forget the bicarb)
Last week I had some apples going a bit wrinkly and bruised which no one would eat, I stewed them and added about 4 spoonfuls to the half tray mix, YUMMY. They had a cakey texture and my DD thought it was like a nutri grain bar (only edible and not so sickeningly sweet). I will ad apple again, and bananas next time they're going bruised in the fruit bowl.
Take them out when lightly golden, if they look brownish with a bit of colour they will be too hard when they cool down and firm up. (well, I'd eat them)

    :)

    Hiya

I am going to make these today (have made them loads already) but was wondering if it would work ok if I melted white chocolate with butter and syrup before mixing it in the dry mix?

    Thanks

I think I'd be more inclined to chop the white chocolate into small chunks rather than melting it.
