I made these yesterday because I was at home for DD2's sports day - rained off, predictably- and they were gorgeous!!!

I had a gadget for making melon balls and it is perfect for scooping out the mixture and making even sized blobs which you then flatten on the tray.

having teflon baking tray liners helped a lot because they were very easy to lift off. I made about 50 - but there aren't that many left now the gannets have been at them
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I succumbed and made a batch tonight. Got off to a great start - first ingredient on the list is self-raising flour, which I didn't have in. Made my own with plain and a guestimate of some extra bicarb. Unfortunately I didn't grease the tin well enough so once they were cool I had to chip some of them off. That's good in a way, as I understand from an email I received once that the calories fall out if a biscuit gets broken. Ahem.

I made mine v.v.large indeed - used about two thirds of the mixture and only got about 15 out of it. The rest of the mixture is "resting" in the fridge, think I should really transfer it to the freezer.

Tomorrow I'm visiting my friend and her kids, so will donate the Twinks to them. They can get fat, I am already fat enough!

I let mine cool slightly on the tray and then used a fish slice to lift them off and onto a wire cake rack ;) Mind you I was making about oooo erm... 100 and needed the trays :rotfl:

    oh oh,

I have "twinks" in the oven at the moment, thought since DD1 was going camping with the Guides tonight, she can take some with her (that is if DD1 and 2 haven't scoffed them all before then)

I didn't read all the posts, just printed the recipe, I think I made them too big, only got about 20. Hope they will turn out ok, I will just have to make another batch. I thought I could cover one side of them in melted chocolate, what do you think? Would that work or would that be too sickly??

Thanks for the recipe Twink!! You have started a baking frenzy,

em i think you made them too big, mumoftwo :D i get 46 from my batch, not sure about covering all the biscuit in choc, though am sure the children would love it, someone put small chunks on the top when they came out the oven or you could just drizzle some on top, am amazed at all the variations there is
