Just made my first batch. I don't have marge so used homemade unsalted butter. Made 34 huuuge biscuits.
Oh, I only had Oatmeal of Altford, which is very small oats, so the bisuits weren't overly oaty. I really liked them. I might get some medium oats and try that...although I really liked them as they were.
I'm telling people that they are called "Twinks".0 -
ooh, fame at last dannahaz :j
glad you enjoyed them, i have never tried them with oatmeal, i usually just use cheapo porridge oats

Twink, sorry just got back to this thread.
I used Asda soft spread which is a big tub of vegetable oil based stuff. I use it for all my baking and everything else turns out OK.0 -
thanks Pollybear, i will look out for the spread next time i am in asda0

Yum! These twinks are lovely!:D
Just thought I'd pop on and say how much we enjoyed them.
I had to tweak slightly as I have a fan oven.8oz sr flour
8oz sugar used golden caster sugar
8oz porridge oats Mr T value ones
8oz margarine olive spread
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan (melted it in a jug in the microwave for a minute) stir in bic soda and add to dry mix, mix well, make smallish balls (36)and put on greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork, 180oc for 15 mins, (160 for 10mins in a fan assisted oven) cool on the tray, you just want them golden in oven not brown
Thanks Twink "all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0 -
you could get 46 HopeElizzy, out of the mix and yes 160oc right for fan oven, thats what dd has0

Hi Twink
I know Ive just thanked you on the daily, but want to add my opinion to this thread! I have just made my first lot this evening, and just made a second batch.
I made them to the size of cookie's. And got 40 out of each batch.
They are going down a treat!
My DD has now crowned me the best Baker in the world.
