that you think it reasonable that someone has to apply for a job in a shop window that only you have seen, as they are hardly going to agree to have seen it, if they have not applied for it, so what proof are you going to use, to show they saw it and so should have applied for it? google maps? are we tagged now and don't know it

I think your a little confused!!

IE. If a customer was looking for a retail position, I see one in a window which says hand cv in etc, I then tell said customer I saw it and this is how to apply. Customer says ok I will go hand cv in, the vacancy then becomes a matched job.

I wouldn't match to a vacancy a customer said they had already applied to, it would be a new one and want proof

...would you put a time limit for them to apply by?

I only ask because I saw a job I was interested in on UJM the other day, around midnight, so bookmarked it to look at in the morning when I was more awake.
The next morning it had been removed.

    thank god I misunderstood :rotfl:

lets face it tho, we both know you are not there to match claimants with jobs but to put pressure on them to find a job themselves.

This pretence of being helpful is kidding no one, you are there to process JSA payments and make sure the claimant is following the rules, even if those rules in many cases are next to impossible to carry out.

I would ask them when they could apply by, and tell them when the closing date is.

Some people are very IT literate, have the internet at home etc so if for example its just to send a CV then a few days at most should be sufficient.

But everyone circumstances are different, I would usually expect that they had applied by there next appointment though.

Well that's your opinion, my customers would have a very different one. so if your trying to sit behind your keyboard and play lets target the Advisor then I suggest you do it with someone else.

sad you believe you have to sanction someone because your boss wants you to, enjoy your wage, you have clearly earned it.

You do understand that I am not now, nor have I ever been, nor (if I have any choice) will I ever be, a Job Centre employee?

But a lot of the people who work for the Job Centre don't have much choice about it. It's hardly the most well paid or satisfying work you could do.

Just checked on UJM. The 2 boxes you need to leave unticked (profile page) are...

'I authorise DWP to view my account, including job search activity, feedback and notes'
    and
'I would like to receive DWP email messages'

Both of mine are unticked - it's quiet on the frontline ;)

That's just via UJM, stix. If they have your email address from other sources they can email you. And, I believe they can mandate you to provide an email address.

Out of interest what kind of job can an advisor ask the customer to apply for? Does it have to match one of the three sectors and times available on the jsag or can it just be any job? I also wonder the same about not activity seeking work sanctions do the jobs you missed have to match those on the jsag or can they be any jobs the advisor thinks is appropriate? for example my sectors are all admin based can i be sanctioned or mandated to apply for example retail jobs? The same with times available to work can I be sanctioned for not applying for a job that is outside the hours on my jsag?

    Thanks

    That's a shame.

Ah well, I guess I'll just have to keep going in with a big smile on my face, keeping them happy and hope it doesn't come to that (they have my CV/contact details) :D

I'm not targeting anyone, I'm taking part in a thread that you are posting in, sorry if you feel like having replies to you posts is being targeted  or is it more the fact you don't agree with the replies ;)

by the way, you say customers, what is it you are selling?
